Memorial Auditorium
April 17, 1947
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in
called session at 2:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date in the Council Room
in the Memorial Auditorium, with the following members present:
W. B. Hamilton, Mayor
K. C. Spell, 0
Melvin B. Evans, Aldermen
A. Jay Eastham,
T. A. Hicks, City Attorney
Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk
Mayor W. B. Hamilton announced this meeting was called for the
purpose of holding a Public hearing on the proposed construction of a
filling station by the Humble Oil & Refining Company at 1008 Brook Street.
Both proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to voice their
opinion on this subject.
Much discussion was had on the subject, thereupon City Attorney
T. A. Hicks advised the Council that in the light of the decision of the
Texas Supreme Court in the Continental Oil Co. case on the W. E. Norton tract
across the street from this property, there was nothing the City could do
about the matter.
Moved by Alderman Spell that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Alderman Evans and carried.
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
