Min 07/10/1946 i 296 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium July 10, 1946 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session on the above date at 10:30 o'clock A. M. in the Coun in the Memooial Auditorium, with the following members present: cil Room W. B. Hamilton, Mayor J. W. Fitzpatrick, Melvin B. Evans, J. Y. Baber, Aldermen A. Jay Eastham, G. D. Fairtrace, City Manager T. A. Hicks, City Attorney J. B. Hickerson. Acting City Clerk Mayor W. B. Hamilton announced the purpose of tzis meeting to be the consideration of Sheppard Field matters. Moved by Alderman Fitzpatrick that the City Clerk be authorized and ordered to draw a warrant payable to the Treasurer of the United States in the amount of $2,266.8� for maintenance of runways at Sheppard Field from August 1945 through June 1946, and to bill Fulcher Armstrong in the amount of $2,266.83 for this service. Motion seconded by Alderman Evans and carried. Moved by Alderman Eastham that May W. B. Hamilton be authorized to sign a contract and easement on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls with the Wichita Falls & Southern Railroad Company to be used in connection with the new water project, and to authorize and order the City Clerk to draw a warrant in the amount of $4.88 in payment of same. Motion seconded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried. Moved by Alderman Eastham that the Naval Reserve be allotted a 200, x 200t space in the tract of land belonging to the City located at Fifth and Denver Streets, and that the Housin Authority be allotted the remainder of this space. When the Housing Authority shall remove these emergency houses, the Naval Reserve shall be granted additional space. The space for the Naval Reserve to be leased to them for a 10 year period, and the Housing Authority to occupy said space for the duration of the national housing emergency. Moved by Alderman Wininger that the Board of Aldermen autthoridlze payment to the City National Bank the sum of $1,290.90, being payment April 1, 1946, by virtue of a water main contract entered into by and between the City of Wichita Falls and Kemp, Peckham and Harrell on March 24, 1928, and subsequently assigned to the City National Bank; and further to order the City Clerk to draw a warrant for the same. Motion seconded by Alderman Spragins and carried. i 298 Moved by Alderman Evans that the Board of Aldermen authorize payment to the Wichita General Hospital the sum of $2,235.82 for charity patients for the month of June, and to order the City Clerk to draw a warrant for the same upon like payment by Wichita County. Motion seconded by Alderman Wininger and carried. Moved by Alderman Baber that the Board of Aldermen appoint C. A. Dipprey to serve on the local Examining Board of Plumbers, thereby filling the vacancy created by the departure of Geo. W. Cruickshank. Motion seconded by Aldennan Eastham and carried. - - - - - - - - - - Moved by Alderman Evans that the Board of Aldermen authorize and direct Mayor W. B. Hamilton to execute for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, a Quito Claim Deed to J. J. Perkins and Charles N. Prothro cover- ing Lot 122 Block 160, Original; the purpose of this conveyance being for title perfection only. Motion seconded by Alderman Wininger and carried. Moved by Alderman Evans that the Board of Aldermen accept and acquire of W. F. George Lots 9 to 5, Block 3; Lots 4 to 18, Block 4; Lots 3 to 9, Block 7; Lots 1 to 18, Block 8; Lots 1 to 18, Block 9; Lots 1 to 183, Block 10; Lots 1 to 7, Block 11; all in Westside Highland Addition; and Lot 4, Block 15, Fairview Addition; for a consideration of the assumption of years 1931 to 1945, inclusive, advalorem taxes, providing all the other taxing bodies are agreeable to this proposition. Motion seconded by Alderman Wininger and carried. Moved by Alderman Evans that the City Manager be and he is hereby instructed to enter into negotiations with the proper agency for the purchase of the Lamar Street USO Building; further that Mayor Hamilton appoint two members of the Council to serve with the City Manager in such capacity and to report same back to the Council. Motion seconded by Alderman Eastham and carried. Mayor Hamilton appointed Aldermen Spragins and Evans to serve with the City Manager on the above.
