Ordinance Authorizing The City Manager To Apply For And Accept
Up To $5 Million In Federal Aviation Administration Grants For The
Reconstruction Of Phase I Of The Runway 17/35 Project At Wichita
Falls Municipal Airport and appropriating said funds and the City's
5% match into the Special Revenue Fund
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has assumed responsibility from Sheppard
Air Force in its lease agreement for the repair and maintenance of Runway 17/35 at
Wichita Falls Municipal Airport; and
WHEREAS, the City has identified the need for the reconstruction of Runway
17/35 to better serve civilian operations at Wichita Falls Municipal Airport; and
WHEREAS, possible funding for such project may be available from the Federal
Aviation Administration; and
WHEREAS, the City will apply for up to $5 million for assistance in completing
Phase I of this project from the Federal Aviation Administration; and
WHEREAS, the City will pay 5% for the cost of this project, up to an amount of
$263,158, using Passenger Facility Charges revenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary to
pursue, apply for, and accept Federal Aviation Administration grants for the
reconstruction of Phase I of the Runway 17/35 project at Wichita Falls Municipal
Airport, as described above.
2. There is hereby appropriated into the Special Revenue Fund $5,000,000.00
from the Federal Aviation Administration and $263,158 from the Airport Fund for the
above described project.
