Min 02/27/1945 174 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium February 27, 1945 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called° session at 10:30 A.M. o'clock on the above date in the Council Room in the :Memorial Auditorium with the following members present: W. B. Hamilton, Mayor C. A. Spragins, J. W. Fitzpatrick, E. J. Wininger, W. Ralph Hyer, Aldermen J. M. Baber, 0. G. Stephens, G. D. Fairtrace, City Manager T. A. Hicks, City Attorney Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk Mayor W. B. Hamilton announced the purpose of this meeting to be, among other things, the calling of a municipal election to be held on April 3, 1945. Moved by Alderman Hyer that the Board of Aldermen authorize and direct the First National Bank and the City National Bank each to transfer the sum of $100,000.00 from the City of Wichita Falls Waterworks Improvement No. 5 Time Deposit account to the City of Wichita Falls Waterworks Improve— ment No. 5 Fund regular checking account. Motion seconded by Alderman Baber and carried. Moved by Alderman Baber that the Board of Aldermen authorize and direct the City Clerk to refund the sum of $2.00 to J. H. Rider on account of an excavation permit purchased in error from the Engineering Dept. Motion seconded by Alderman Spragins and carried. The application of the Kemp Improvement League requesting permission to solicit funds for the purpose of paving Dallas Street was read to the Council by the City Clerk. Moved by Alderman Wininger that the Board of Aldermen authorize the issuance of a solicitor's permit to the Kemp Improvement League. After some discussion, Alderman Wininger withdrew the motion. By common consent of the Council the City Clerk was directed to notify the committee to appear at the next regular council meeting for a duscussion of the requested permit. Moved by Alderman Hyer that the following resolution be adopted and passed as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Spragins, Fitzpatrick, Wininger, Hyer, Baber and Stephens. Nays: None. i75 'i 1 l J 176 By common consent of the Council the City Attorney was authorized and directed to send telegrams to three state representatives for and on be- half of the City of Wichita Falls requesting the said representatives to vote against the proposed bill to abolish all city tax collectors offices, whereby the County Tax Collector would make all such collections. Also to write letters to the said three state representatives requesting their support of the proposed House Bill No. 15 requiring owners of all motor vehicles to exhibit current tax receipts from all taxing bodies before state license could be issued. Loved by Alderman Hyer that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Spragins and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
