Min 03/20/1944 i ll i i 1 i j Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium i March 20, 1944 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular session at 8:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium Building with the following members present: . P. Hood, Mayor i C. A. Spragins, E. J. Wininger, W. Ralph Hyer, Aldermen J. M. Baber, 0. G. Stephens, X S Garland Ffranks, Acting City Manager T. A. Hicks, City Attorney Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk Mayor Hood announced that since a quorum was present the Council would proceed with the regular order of business. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as corrected. Moved. by Alderman Hyer that the Board of Aldermen authorize the issuance of a solicitor's license to the Holliday Creek Primitive Baptist Church for the purpose of soliciting funds to move and repair their church. Motion seconded. by Alderman Wininger and carried. Moved by Alderman Spragins that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare and draw a new contract by and between the new board members of the Wichita General Hospital and the City of avichita Falls and Wichita County, and to further authorize Mayor W. P. Hood to sign the same on behalf of the City. Motion seconded by Alderman Wininger and carried. Moved by Alderman Spragins that the Board of Aldermen revoke chauffeur's license of Raymond L. Hennon as recommended by the Corporation Court Judge. !Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. Moved by Alderman Baber that the Board of Aldermen authorize the issuance of chauffeur's licenses to A. J. Black, T. E. Smith, C. R. Sheppard, S. D. Hill, E. D. Johnson, A. D. Simmons, and C. E. Thornton. Motion seconded by Alderman I`li.ninger and carried. Moved by Alderman Spragins that the board of Aldermen authorize the purchase of one shovel and drag line at a cost of $2,250.00 plus the approximate amount of $100.00 delivery charges. Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. I 12 Moved by Alderman Spragins that the Board of Aldermen asttho size and instruct the City Manager to advertise for bids for the sale of an oil and gas lease on 80 acres of land, known as and being a part of Lakeview Cemetery, more particularly described as the 'Fast one-half of Block 22 of the Walker and Fletcher Cowherds Subdivision of Leage No. One (1) , Denton County School Lands. Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. - - - - - - - - - - Moved by Alderman Hyer that the Board of Aldermen authorize and order the City Clerk to draw a warrant payable to the International Association of Chiefs of Police to pay the annual membership dues of Chris W. Jensen, Chief of Police. Votion seconded by Alderman Baber and carried. The Proposal of James Oakley to purchase Lots 8 and 9, Block 177, Original, for a consideration of $6,000, the terms being $1,000 cash and the balance in long term notes, was considered by the Council and the offer declined, whereupon the City Manager was instructed to communicate with Mr. Oakley's agent to inform him of the Council's action. Moved by Alderman Spragins that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned. READ AND APPROVED this 27th day of March 1944.
