P. Hood, `5ayor C. A. Spragins, J. ; . Fitzpatrick, J. ;i. Hunt, W. R. Hyer, Aldermen J. M. Baber, 0. G. Stephens, Garland Franks, Acting City ?Manager Thel.bert Martin, Assistant City Attorney Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk ''he ,meeting was called to order by Mayor Hood. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as corrected. The Oath of Office was administered to Garland Franks, Acting City Nlanager by the City Clerk. Assistant City Attorney, Thelbert Martin, reported that in his opinion according to Ordinance No. 1351 it would not be necessary to amend said ordinance to oerlidt the raising of taxicab fares, since the said ordinance already makes provisions for the same. Moved by Alderman Hunt that the Council approve the amended schedule as submitted by the various taxicab companies January 3, 1944, for an increase in taxicab fares in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, to be effective thirty days from and after January 3 1944, as follows: 350 for the first 1 or 2 miles for one passenger — 100 for each additional mile 250 for each additional passenger with no additional charge for mileage for additional passengers E' Sheppard Field 750 minimum to Sheppard Field — 1 to 3 persons 250 extra per person These rates apply from downtown business section to Sheppard Field Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. Moved by Alderman Hunt that the 'Board of aldermen approve the bill of Wichita County in the amount of Q208.57 for maintenance of the Venereal ward at the Wichita County Farm for the month of November; further to authorize and order the City Clerk to draw a warrant in payment of the same. Motion seconded by Alderman Baber and carried. Moved by' Alderman Stephens that the Board of Aldermen approve bill of Joe E. Ward, Engineer, in the amount of $2.95 as final payment for services rendered in connection with the construction of the new water plant, and to authorize and order the City Clerk to draw a warrant to discharge the obligation. lotion seconded by Alderman Hyer and carried. 1137 Moved by Alderman Hunt that the Board of Aldermen approve tax refunds on account of double tax payments, and authorize and order the City Clerk to draw warrants payable to the following persons for their respective amounts: �,Irs. R. S. Parker $35.40 � Fred G. Darr 42.46 Eli Morgan 5.10 Motion seconded by Alderman Spragins and carried. Moved by Alderman Spragins that the Board of Aldermen authorize issuance of a chauffeur's license to Jesse P. Forester and refuse and deny issuance of chauffeur's license to Jack C. Nilson and Richard A. Viets. Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried. Moved by Alderman Spragins that the Board of Aldermen authorize the purchase of two rust prevention units for the installation in two water stand- pipes at an approximate cost of $11100. Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. Alderman J. M. Baber who .previously had been appointed as a committee of one to review the property of J. 0. Polhemus for a tax revaluation, reported that in his opinion 1943 assessed valuation should be reduced 10% as a matter of equalization. Moved by Alderman Hunt that the Board of Aldermen authorize and order a 10% reduction in the assessed tax valuation of J. 0. Polhemus property, there- by reducing same to $4,050 for the year 1943 and being Lots 1 and 5 to 10, except the South 147' of the West 15' of Lot 6 and the East 38.9' of Lot 7, all in Speedbrook Addition. Motion seconded by Alderman Hyer and carried. ;Moved by Alderman Spragins that the Hoard of Aldermen approve and authorize issuance of a dance hall license to Mrs . Noble, said dance hall to be known as the Blue Tea Room and being situated on Eleventh Street between E-Z and Safeway Stores, subject however to the regular inspection requirements. Baber, 0. G. Stephens, Garland Franks, Acting City Manager Thelbert Martin, Assistant City Attorney Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk The meeting was called to order by :Aayor Hood who declared a quorum present. Mayor Hood a unced the purpose of this meeting was to consider the complications develop*& with reference to the installation of certain types of electrical wiring for the new apartment hotel now being erected on the site of the old Studio Hotel. Loved by Aldermen Hyer that the Board of Aldermen waive that portion of Ordinance No. 1144 which forbids the installation of romax wiring and to now permit the installation of the romax wiring for this particular job only a�b as a war measure and fo,lz� the duration only and by no means is ,�' this motion to be construed to void &I'` ordinance No./144. !lotion seconded by Alderman Stephens.
