Min 07/06/1943 1022 i Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium July b, 1943 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular called session at 8:00 o'clock P.M. on the above date in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium Building with the following members present: W. P. Hood, Mayor C. A. Spragins, X J. W. Fitzpatrick, W. Ralph Hyer, Aldermen J. M. Baber, 0. G. Stephens, X J. A. Giddings, Jr., City Manager T. A. Hicks, dity Attorney Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk Mayor W. P. Hood announced a quorum present. The Minutes of the regular meeting held June 28, 1943, Were read and approved as read. Moved by Alderman Spragins that the Board of Aldermen authorize issuance of a special permit to H. 0. Wooten Grocery Company for the construction of an awning over their loading dock at their place of business fronting 13th Street; subject, however, to the inspection and supervision of the City Engineer. Motion seconded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried. Moved by Alderman Stephens that chauffeur's licenses be granted to E. R. Camp, E. E. Cage, H. A. Worley, C. L. Brown and W. C. Gentry, Jr. gotion seconded by Alderman Hyer and carried. Moved by Alderman Hyer that the Board of Aldermen authorize sale of an addi ional burial space in Riverside Cemetery to H. C. Hill.; same being Space No. Block Y. Motion seconded by Alderman Baber and carried. A petition was presented to the Council bearing the signatures of a number of citizens residing in Westover Hills Addition, requesting annexation of the balance of said addition to the city limits of the City of Wichita Falls. The petition was officially accepted and referred to the City Manager and City Engineer fcr study with orders to report same back to the Council for further consideration. Moved by Alderman Baber that the Board of Aldermen grant a 90 days leave of absence to city employee John E. Costello without pay. Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. 1023 I i i Moved by Alderman Hyer that the Board of Aldermen authorize Mayor W. P. Hood to execute a contract by and between the Hardin Junior College and the City of Wichita Falls for collection of taxes at a rate of 2% collection , fees for the period beginning July 1, 1943, and ending June 30, iMA. lys�,� Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. CityManager J. A. Giddings, ubmitted to the Council petitions 6 � � Jr.,, of both the Police Department and Fire Department bearing the signatures of employees of each department requesting they be given a 20% raise in salary. Contents of the petitions were discussed by the Council, whereupon the City Manager was requested and instructed to prepare a salary increase wage scale for all city employees, effective October 1, 1943, and submit the same to the Council as early as possible in order that. an increase wage scale may be decided upon, thereby enabling the City Manager to annonge wage scale affective 1943-44 annual budget, prior to the adoption of tl��'l ri t.
