The Board of aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in
regular session at 8:00 o'clock P. '- . on the above date in the Council Room in
the Memorial aliditorium Building with the following members present:

The Vayor announced a nu^ream nresent.
The I'fi.n it es of the regular council meeting held June 14, 1943 were
read and approved as corrected.
L. L. Kuntz presented to the Council a petition requesting that weeds
be cut on Lot 101, Block 169, Original. The matter was referred to the City
ofanager for attention.
Moved by Alderman Stephens that the Board of Aldermen authorize
issuance of a carnival oermit to World)f 1qd Shows sponsored by the Veterans
of. Foreign i;ears for a period of one we ^t( le atter part of September upon pay-
ment of the regular $50.00 license fee; said carnival to be located near the
Ball Park.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt. and carried.
The proposed purchase of water mains and sewer lines in the Country
Club Estates Addition was discussed at length, resulting in the call by Mayor
!lj. P. Hood for an executive session of the Council to convene in the City
Manager's office Friday, the 25th, at 5 :30 o'clock P.M.
Moved by alderman Hunt that the Board of Aldermen turn down and reject
the proposal to purchase the property located on Rose Street for the Nurses
home.
Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried.
Mayor 71. P. Hood appointed Aldermen Stephens and Hunt to serve on a
coru*ttee with the Mayor and City manager for the purpose of locating and
providing suitable living quarters for a student nurses' home.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the Board of Aldermen authorize and order
the City Tax Assessor and CIllector to cancal all taxes to date on city owned
property being Lots 1 to 5, inclusive, Block ,, Original, and Lots 15 to 18,
inclusive, Block Original.
Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried.

Moved by Alderman Hunt that chauffeur's license be granted to Kenneth
Idalcolm Coulson.

The City Attorney reported that the final court decision of the suit of
Casper Geyer vs City of Wichita Falls was rendered in favor of the plaintiff,
allowing a judgment in the amount of $7,500.00, and further stated that the City
would be required to pay 6% interest on the same until paid.
The City Attorney also reported that the Higher courts had held the
Homestead Exemption ordinance to be invalid and to become effective January 1,
1943.
The City Attorney further reported that the $17,500.00 suit of firs.
Sarah S. Davidson against the City of Vgichita Falls had been compromised for
the amount of $250.00 plus court closts.

Moved by Alderman Hunt that the Board of Aldermen authorize and order
the City Cleric to draw a warrant payable to Mrs. Sarah S. Davidson and John W.
Davenport, her attorney, in the amount of $250.00 payable from the Street Fund
as final settlement of the above mentioneg quit, and to further authorize payment
to the District Clerk the sum of 418.,55 court costs.

Moved b; Alden-aan Hunt that the 'Joard of Kldermen authorize ani order
the City Clerk to draw a warrant payable to T. Macy reimbursing him for
advance payment made to Mrs. Drusie Bacon and B. B. Bacon for the City of
Wichita Falls for the purchase of Lots 8 and 9, Block 177, Original.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried.
The City Uanager read a communication from the Fort Iv7orth & Denver
City Railway Company requesting the Council to reduce their monthly water rate.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the reaue st of the Fort 'Worth & Denver
City Railway Company for reduction in water rate be denied and refused, and that
the 0ity Manager be authorized and instructed to notify the Fort Worth & Denver
City of such action.
Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the Board of Aldermen authorize Mayor
W. P. Hood to execute and sign a contract with Mel H. Vaught for amusements,
rides, etc, concessions in Scotland Park, stipulating that the contract shall
read so as to require Mel H. Vaught to execute a valid liability bond of
to $a5-,-&=limit.

The City Manager recommended that the City enter into an agreement with
Wichita County whereby said County will provide living quarters at the County
Farm for certain female venereal patients; the City to bear one—half of the
expenses of maintaining a main?, cook, and other minor expenses at a cost
of approximately $125.00 per month.
Loved by Alderman Fitzpatrick that the recommendation of the City
Manager be adopted and authorize payment of one—half of the monthly expenses for
maintaining living quarters for female venereal patients at the County Fax-4,not
to exceed the sum of $125.00 per month.
