THAT '.I hE �S, it has recently cone to the attention of the r..Iayor and
City ��anager of the City of -ichita rills that the ighth Service Command is
seriously considerinff removing the iUlitary Police Contingent now stationed in ,
the City of I.Achita Falls to some other area and assigning, to the co;�manding
officer of Sheppard Field the duty of providing military police service to per-
form the duties now being discharged by the present _ilitary Police Contingent, 1
and

J�HEREAS, various officers acting for the Eighth Service Command trade j
demands on the Board of Aldermen of the Cit-c- of ti"ichita falls several times dur-
ing the past year requesting that the City oroVLde adequate barracks for living q
quarters for the Yilitary Police Contingent serving 'sichita Falls, Texas, and

HE T"AS, acting upon the urgent demand of the Eighth Service Command,
the City of �,ichita Falls did provide living quarters for the ,ilitary Police
Contingent stationed in .'ichita Falls at a cost of approximately $3,000.00 and
in doing so it was necessary that said City execute a lease contract with the
owner of said building for the duration of the war and 6 months thereafter and
pay P'50.00 per month as rental for said building, all of i�hich has been fully {
complied with by the City of V;ichita Falls and said barracks have been in use
by the "iilitary Police Contingent for several months, and 1

Service CoiTLqand were unable to adequately perform the services required in con-
nection with service men coming to ++ichita Falls from Sheppard Field and several
other fields adjacent to aichita Falls due to the fact that there were a great I
many service men visiting Wichita Falls at all times, and
44'HEriEAS, the 1=ilitary Police Contingent, under the direction of
Captain Harry w41. Roberson, Provost �,iarshal, has performed an outstanding service,
both to the service men coming to e,ic}hita Falls and the citizenship of '4ichita
Falls, and also has cooperated with the city, county and state law enforcement
agencies and health authorities in the City of ichita Falls, and s

HEJ1EAS, i t is the belief of the Board of -ldermen of the City of
Wichita Falls that the 14i.litary Police Contingent from Sheppard Field will be
unable to render as efficient police service in Wichita Falls as has and is
being done by the present Military Police Contingent for the reason of their
personal acquaintance with the service men of Sheppard Field and the surrounding
area.

NG!" THEREFORE, 3E IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDER ,EN OF THE CITY OF
VV'IC J JITA FALLS, TEXAS:
That the Board of Aldermen does hereby vigorously oppose the removal
of Captain Harry V1. Roberson and the viilitary Police Contingent from the City of
dichita Falls for the reason that they are and have been rendering valuable
service to the service men of the United States Army and the citizenship of the
City of Kichita Falls, Texas.
That it is the belief of the Board of Aldermen of the City of "ichita
Falls that a MLilitary Police Contingent from Sheppard Field will not be able to
render the same necessary and efficient service as is, and can be, rendered by
the present iailitary Police Contingent now under the direction of Captain Harry
W. Roberson, Provost Marshal.
That the Eighth Coiimmnd be, and it is hereby, urgently requested to
peradt Captain Harry W. Roberson, Provost Marshal, and his 'lilitary Contingent
to remain in 111ichita Falls for the duration for the reason that Captain Roberson
and his men are rendering a most valuable service for the United States in this
area and to the citizenship of v ichita Falls in general.
That the present military Contingent be kept intact in Wichita Falls
and that the City be assured that no change is to be made in the -,Military Police
Contingent or removed from Vuichita Falls for the duration of the war.
Moved by :alderman Hunt that the Board of aldermen approve and pass the
above and foregoing resolution as read.
Tviotion seconded by Alderman Spragins and carried by the following vote:
Mayor W,. P. Hood presented a highly comprehensive Post
War
Plan to the Council, which was enthusiasticly received by members of the Board of 'ldernen.
The Mayor instructed the City Clerk to file a copy of the Plan
in the office of the Clerk for future reference.
