Min 08/10/1942 818 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium, August 10, 1942 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session at 8:00 o'clock P. M. in the Council Room of the memorial Auditorium Building on the above date with the following members present: W. F. Hood, Mayor W. Ralph Hyer, V. E. Stampfli, Aldermen Tas. M. Williams, Tas. A. Giddings, Jr. City Manager J. H. Crouch, City Clerk Thelbert Martin, Asst. City Attorney The minutes of the regular meeting of August 3rd, were read. Moved by Alderman Hyer that the minudos of the regular meeting of August 3rd, be approved as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. O.tDINANCE NO. 1347 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A RENTAL CHARGE OF ONE AND ONE HALF PER CENT OF GROSS INCOME FROM ME SALE OF GAR WITHIN %LBE CITY OF WiC UTA FALLS, TEXAS, '10 BE PAID BY PERSONS, FIRYS AND CORPORATIONS ENGA(ZD IN `IdE SALE OF GAS AND MHO USE THE STREEM, ALLEM AND PUBLIC a'AYS OF SAID CITY, ANL:a DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Moved by Alderman Williams that Ordinance No. 1347 be passed on its third and final reading and be adopted as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Hyer, Stampfli and Williams. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board of Aldermen authorize home- stead tax refund to W. R. Hord, on his homestead which is West 58 X 100 feet of Lot 2 and west 82 feet of lot 3, Block 246 of the original town of Wichita Falls, in the amount of $24.30 for the year 1941. ORDINANCE NO. 1350 AN ORDINANCE FIXING FARES TO B; CHARGED FOR TRANSPORTING PASSENGERS WITHIN THE CITY OF WICHITA. FALLS, TEXAS, BY PERSONS, TRUSTEES, FIRN,S, ASSOCIATIONS AND CORPORATIONS ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS OF TRANS- PORTING PASSENGERS FOR HIRE ON AND OVER DESIGNATED ROUTES WITHIN SAID CITY AND ITS SUBURBS AND TO TEE THE STREETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC WAYS OF THE CI TY FOR SUCH PURPOSE, AND DECLARING AN MMRGENCY. Moved by Alderman Payer that Ordinance No. 1350 be passed on its first reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Stempli and carried with the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Hyer., Stampfli and Williams. Nays: None. The City Manager filed a written report to the Board of Aldermen on the Community Natural Gas Company's application foP franchise, and proposed franchise ordinance numbered 1348. Representatives of the Community Natural Gas Co., raised objections to certain items contained in the recommendation and report. Moved by Alderman 'Williams that the Board of Aldermen accept the report of the City Manager on the application for franchise filed by the Community Natural Gas Co. , and instruct the City Attorney to prepare franchise ordinance along the general lines of the City Manager's report. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. Moved by Aldaman Stampfli that the Board of Aldermen deny and reject proposed tax settlements submitted by the tax collector's office in schedule dated August loth. Motion seconded by Alderman Hyer and carried. Moved by Alderman Stampfli that the Board of Aldermen grant chauffeur's license to the following: Wm- Li, Puckett Odgen Stan. Moody Bell Potts Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. Moved by Alderman Stampfli that the Board of Aldermen accept and approve tax settlement submitted by Mack Taylor in the amount of $674.25 tax plus $16.20 interest, waiving and remitting penalties. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. i 820 { i i� 9 i A committee of the Board of Aldermen on the purchase of addi- tional property for the new water plant site reported with recommendations that properties under consideration be purchased at not more than $1600.00, assuming all taxes accrued to date of purchase. Moved by Alderman Stampfli that the Board of Aldermen order the purchase of the following listed property for the nvw water plant site, Lot 6, Block 28 Cannon Addition $1500.00 plus accrued taxes - Lot 10, Block 3 " " 100.00 Lot 20, Block 2 " " 100.00 and order same paid out of Water Improvement No. 1 fund. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board of Aldermen order the sale of one concrete mixer, being part of the equipment purchased for the construct- ion of the new water plant, to Z. G. Benson for $1100.00. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board of Aldermen adjourn. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried.
