M. in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building on the above date with the following members present: W. P. Hood, Mayor I. M. Baber J. W. Fitzpatrick W. Ralph Hyer Aldermen V. E. City Attorney The minutes of the regular meeting of July, 27, 1942, were read. The mayor approved the minutes of July 27 as read. ORDINANCE NO. 1347 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A RENTAL CHARGE OF ONE AND ONEAHALF PER CENT OF GROSS INCOME FROM THE SALE OF GAS WITHIN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TE AS, TO BE PAID BY PERSONS, FIRMS AND CORPORATIONS ENGAGED IN THE SALE OF GAS AND *10 USE THE STREETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC WAYS OF SAID CITY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Moved by Alderman Williams that Ordinance No. 1347 be passed on second reading. Baber Motion seconded by Alderman g I and carried with the following vote: YEAS: Aldermen Baber, Fitzpatrick, Hyer, Stampfli, Stephens and Williams. NAYS: None. -------------------- ORDINANCE NO.1346 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1148, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 8TH DAY OF JANUARY, A. D. 1934, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD TO BE KNOWN AS THE EXAMINING BOARD OF GAS FITTERS: PRESCRIBING THE ME!"BERSHIP OF SAID BOARD: PROVIDING FOR EXAMINATION OF AN ISSUANCE OF LICENSE TO GAS FITTERS: PRESCRIBING THE 7ARK TO HE DONE BY LICENSED GAS FITTERS: REQUIRING PERMITS ANDZ PROVIDING FOR INSPECTION FEES: PROVIDING FOR INSPECTOR AND DEFINING INSPECT& ORS DUTIES: PRE:d&RIBING SPECIFICATIOP:S FOR GAS PIPING AND ETC," BY ADDIYG TF?ERETO SECTION 21-A; PROVIDING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF HEATING APPLIANCES CONCEALED IN WALLS, FLOORS, ATTICS, CLOSETS AND ETC. : AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Moved by Alderman Hyer that Ordinance No. 1346 be passed on third and final reading and be adopted as read. Motion cesonded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried by the following vote: YEAS: Aldermen Baber, Fitzpatrick, Hyer, Stampfli, Stephens and Williams. NAYS:. None, 816 Moved by Alderman Hyer that the Board of Alderman authorize and order refund of Homestead tax to Federal National Mortgage Company and R. A. Williams in amount of $22.28 for year 1941. Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. -------------------- Loved by Alderman Fitzpatrick that the Board instruct the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance providing for the levying of street and alley rental at the rate of two per cent (2)6)_, of gross receipts of all bus and transit companies operating in the City of Wichita Falls, and fixing the fares of such bus companies. Motion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. ---------------- Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, receive and accept the repent of the City attorney in the claim for damages alledged by Mrs. Sarah Davidson and deny said claim. Motion seconded by Alderman Hyer and carried. --------------------- Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board of Alderman order the closing of a 4' a 16' walk between Lots 111 and 121, Block "R" Riverside Cemetery and authorize sale of said area to F. R. Tones at price of 50 cents per square foot, kotion seconded by Alderman Stephens and carried. --------------------- Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board of Alderman authorize and order the adjustment of personal and property taxes set out in the following sehedule. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and, carried. ------------------- Moved by Alderman Stampfli that the Board authorize and order adjustment of delinquent taxes of the Huff Paint and Wallpaper Co. for the last half of 1941 on the basis of the net taxes due for said period. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. ----------------------- Moved by Alderman Stampfli that the Board of Aldermen authorize the Mayor to execute for and in behalf of the City a contract between the City and the Texas Electric Service Company providing for the erection of a fence protecting the site of the new Water Plant, a part of said fence to be erected on the property of the Texas Electric Company and said portion to be paid for by Texas Electric Service Company. Motion seconded by Alderman Hyer and carried. --------------- Moved by Alderman StKxAft Stephens that the Board of Aldermen employ 1. B.
