The Board of Aldermen met in regularly called session at 10:00
O'clock A. Y". November 6th, in the Council Room of the 1 emorial Auditorium
with the following members present:

T. Bryan Viller, City Manager
J. H. Crouch, City Clerk
Mayor Fitzgerald announced the purpose of this called meeting to
be the opening of bids on the proposed Water System Improvements, whereupon:
Bid by Williams & Whittle on Section No. 2 of the Specifications
was opened, said bid being in the total sum of $309,926, with duly executed
bidders bond in the sum of 4200000.00.
Bid by Briggs-Darby Construction Co. , bidding on Section No. 1
of the Specifications being for the construction of Dater Plant Building,
which bid was in the sum of $214,400, accompanied by bidders bond in the
sum of $209000.
isid by Sherman Machine & Iron Works being for the construction of
ViFter PlaLnt Building, which bid was in the sum of $320,027 accompanied by
bidders bond for 50A of the maximum bid.
These bids were read in detail by Joe V;ard, Engineer.
After some discussion Yayor Fitzgerald ordered the meeting recessed
until 7:30 P. L. November 6, 1940.
The meeting then recessed.
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 18th day of November A. D. 1940.

The Board of Aldermen met in regularly recessed session on the
6th day of November 1940, at 7:30 P. ik:. in the Council Room of the Memorial
Auditorium with the following members present:

Mayor Fitzgerald announced the purpose of this recessed meeting to
be the further consideration of bids received for the construction of the
V"ater System Improvements.
The Council heard and received the report of Joe Ward, Engineer on
the above mentioned bids, said bids being Section 1 for $214,400, by
Briggs-Darby Construction Co. ,
Section 2, for $309,926 by Williams &. Whittle Inc.
Section 2, for $320,027 by Sherman Machine & Iron Forks
advising that all bids be rejected.
klayor Fitzgerald stated that after careful consideration of the
above bids in the executive session of the Board of Aldermen, the concensus
of opinion was that it would be for the best interest of the City to reject
all bids made for the construction and improvement of the Water System, and
within a reasonable time advertise for other bids.
Moved by Alderman Wolf that the Board of Aldermen hereby reject
all bids made to this Board for the construction of the Water System Improvement.
Motion seconded by Alderman lvaylor and carried.

Moved by Alderman 1illiams that the Board of Aldermen authorize the
Mayor and City Clerk to execute a deed to John Steinberger, satisfying agreement
heretofore made in the acquisition of right-of-way for drainage ditch through
Lot 33, Block 8, Sibley Taylor Addition, deeding a portion of Lot 32, Block 8
Sibley Taylor Addition.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hyer and carried.
Moved by Alderman 1daylor That the Board of Aldermen adjourn.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hyer and carried.
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
