Memorial Auditorium Building
April 29, 1940
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular
session on the above date at 8:00 o'clock P. M. in the Council Room of the Memorial
Auditorium with the following members present:

The minutes of the meeting of April 22nd were read.
Moved by Alderman Naylor that the minutes of the meeting of April
22nd be approved as read.
Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 1302
CLOSING AND ABANDONING THAT PORTION OF TASHINGTON STREET ADJACENT TO AND
SEPARATING BLOCKS THIRTY-FOUR AND FORTY-NINE OF THE ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF WICHITA FALLS,
TEXAS, FROM THE EAST BOUNDARY LINE OF SCOTT STREET TO THE 6vST BOUNDARY LINE OF THE FORT
WORTH AND DENVER CITY RAILPAY COMPANY RIGHT-OF-WAY; SAID PORTION OF WASHINGTON STREET
BEING MORE PARIIUCLARLY HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED, AND THE CLOSING AND ABANDONING OF IN-
DIANA AVENUE FROM THE NORTH BOUNDARY LINE OF LINCOLN STRE7L,`,T TO THE INTERSECTION OF
INDIANA AVENUE WITH THE PEST AND NORTH BOUNDARY LINES OF THE FORT WORTH AND DENVER CITY
RAILPJAY DOMPANY RIGHT-OF-WAY; SAID PORTION OF INDIANA STREET BEING MORE PARTICULARLY
HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED, AND THE CLOSING AND ABANDONING THAT PART CF THE ALLEY RUNNING
THROUGH BLOCK THIRTY-FOUR OF THE ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF W'ICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND LYING
NORTH OF THE NORTH BOUNDARY OF VASHINGTON STREET THROUGH BLOCK THIRTY-FOUR AS HEREIN-
AFTER DESCRIBED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Moved by Alderman Wolf that Ordinance No. 1302 be passed on its first
reading.
Notion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried with the following vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Hyer, Naylor, Williams and Wolf.
Nays: None.
Bids on ambulance services for the City received by the purchasing
department by the City Manager,
Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board accept and approve the bid
of Merkle Undertaking Company as t-e lowest and best bid for City ambulance service
for a period of three years, said service to be rendered with no charge to the
City.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hyer and carried.
City Attorney, T. A. Hicks, filed a written opinion dated April 29th
in the matter of W. B. Chauncey application for payment under water contract dated
October 24, 1923, setting out that the City can not legally expend City funds in
payment for property of such character outside the City limits.
Mayor Fitzgerald ordered the opinion filed and copy of same be forwards
to W. B. Chauncey.
Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board allow and approve the use of
the Municipal Auditorium on May 15th between the hours of twelve noon and three
o'clock P. M. for the use of the American Legion sponsoring a program at a charge
of $15.00. ,
Motions seconded by Alderman Wolf and carried.
Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board of Aldermen authorize and
order adjustment of personal and property delinquent taxes and settlement of same
as outlined in the following schedule:
