Min 07/10/1939 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium July 10, 1939 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium with the follow- ing members present: W, E. Hicks, City Attorney The Yinutes of the meeting of June 26th were read. Moved by Alderman Naylor that the Minutes of the meeting of June 26th be approved as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. ORDINANCE N0. 1286 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT AERALOREM TAXES DUE AID OWING HE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS FOR THE YEAR OF 1939 AND SUBSEgUENT YEARS SHALL BECOME DUE ON THE JST DAY OF OCTOBER OF EACH YEAR AND PROVIDING THAT THE SAME MAY BE PAID IN TIC EQUAL INSTALLMENTS ON OR BEFORE THE 1ST DA.Y OF NOTa�.3BER AND ON OR BEFORE ThE 1ST DAY OF bAY EACH YVAR, PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES AND INTEREST ON DELINQUENT TAXES AID REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1065, PASSED AID APPROVED ON THE 24TH DAY OF AUGUST, A. Moved by Alderman Stampfli that the Board of Aldermen approve the issuande of a building permit for the construction of a building approximately 20" x 15" located at 1614 Ninth .Street, said building extending over the established building line. Motion seconded by Alderman Naylor and carried. Moved by Alderman Fitzpatrick that the Board licenses, permits, etc., olthe Disabled American Veterans on account ofOhelying YA ller Shows for th week, July 17 th-22nd, with charges vaaived. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board hereby record their opposition to the showing of carnivals, itinerant shows, etc., sponsored by local organ- izations and in the future require such shows to conform to the provisions of the ordinances governing. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. Moved by Alderman Stampfli that the Board waive the requirements of the building code relative to the installation of sigAs and allow the install- ation of a neon sign for Allison's Drug. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. Mayor Fitzgerald appointed a Council Committee to work with the r2ity Manager in making an investigation of a request to allow the cutting of a street curb at 613 Seventh Sto to street level. •Y Moved by Alderman Naylor that the Board authroize the asjustment of personal and property delinquent taxes and settlement of same as out-lined in the folloming schedules under date of Tul,y! 3,1939, and July 10, 1939, Notion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. A written petition and request by citizens interested in the operation of a soft ball field in Scotland Park was received by the Board and ordered filed. Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board authorize and order immediate payment of all expenses and accounts incurred by reason of the fatal accident suffered by City employees J. E. Marney and A. 0. Ewing and the expenses of her. ltTendenahll incident to the said accident. This action being taken by the Board being in no wise an admission of liability. Motion seconded by Alderman Naylor and carried. Moved by Alderman Naylor that the Boa-,d authorize and order payment of Judgement in the case of Valter v+. Brown vs. City of Wichita falls, case No. 33234-B according to the terms and conditions of said judgement. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. Moved by Alderman Stampfli that a dance license be issued to E. N. Satterfield location, 1002-4, Burkburnett Road. Motion seconded by Alderman Naylor and carried. Moved by Alderman Stampfli that the Board of Aldermen adjourn. Motion seconded b-- Alderman Naylor and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
