Min 04/03/1939 Wichita Falls, Texas Lemorial Auditorium April 3, 1939 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas met in regular session at 8:00 P. M. on the above date in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium with the following members present: V% F. Fitzgerald, Mayor J. V,, Fitzpatrick ) Pat nardage ) 11. J. Naylor ) Aldermen Jas. M. Williams ) Frank V,olf ) J. Bryan Ifiller, City Manager J. H. Crouch, City Clerk T. A. Hicks, City Attorney The minutes of the regular meeting of March 27, 1939, were read. Moved by Alderman Williams that the minutes of the regular meeting of March 27, 1939, be approved s read. Motion seconded by Alderman Naylor and carried. The City Manager reported to the Board results of his investi- gation in response to the proposed graveling of the new street recently opened between Bowie School and the street known as the Petrolia Road, advising that the gravel at present available is not suitable for street purposes and further reported the proferred cooperation of t'ie County Commissioners in properly completing the sufracing of this new street. Yoved by Alderman Hardage that the Board authorize and order a tax refund to th® V.'Ichita Falls Building & Loan Association, Lot 3, Block 30, Yiller Addition, $7,00, Double Payment. RESOLUTIOItir ATER AS the Board of Aldermen of the City of 110ita Falls, Texas, believes that there exists a supply of underground water suitable for City Purposes, situated ur.Aer arproximately 1,200 acres of land on or near the Red River, known as the Gilliland, Holley, et al, land, and further believes that the best interest of the City rill be served by testing and exploring these lands for such water; TEERIFORE BE IT n =R ;�Cl.V�D P`� TIi BO!LRD OF nLD �, u', OF CITY OF ?"'ICt?<TA F"LIB,, TEXAS: -- That we enter into a contract with the land owners of about 1,200 acres of land on or near the Red River, known as the G51 iland, Holley, et al, land, the terms and conditions of said contract substantially as follovs: 1. An option to buy the rater right on and under said land for the sum of $24,000.00 one year from date of contract, and the right therewith to make such test or tests to determine the quantity and quality of said water, for and in consideration of the sum of $1,200.00. 2. Providing that the City of ti'ichita Falls, Texas shall have full protecti n from oil contamination. 3. If the City of '1iichlita Falls, Texas, by and through its Board of Aldermen, shall desire and so order, said C. W.' Clark shall dri-1, prepare and complete two (2) water wells and make tests of said two (2) wells at his own cost and expense to the satisfaction of the Board of :alderman, for and in consideration of the sum of $2,500.00. 3. That if said C. Clark has to pipe water from said completed wells or tests to Red River, additional consideration of $1,000.00 shall be paid C. Clark.
