and final reading and be adopted as read.
Motion seconded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried by the following
vote:

Moved by Alderman Bebb that the Board appointed J. T. Jackson, Jr., J. M.
Baber and P. 3. Richardson menbers of the Tax Equalization Board for the year 1938.
Motion seconded by Alderngn "tolf ar.d carried.
The City Attorney filed a written report dated May 23rd advising the
Count it that the City does not have any legal liability in a claim filed on behalf of
Mrs. Donna Ilihitehurst in the sum of $3,000 for alleged injuries.
Yoved by Aldermen Williams that the City Attorney's report dated Mv.y 23rd
relative claim of Mrs. Donna. Whitehurst be accepted and claim denied.
Motion seconded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried.
The b'ayor opened a public hearing relative request for installation of
addi ti onal parking meters on Seventh Street. Citizens end business firms located on
Seventh Street filed a petition protesting the installation of parking meters on
Seventh Street and the requests were discussed from the floor by parties interested.
The Mayor closed the hearing and Council's consideration until later date.
Dr. Krohn, representing the service clubs, rresented a TToposed plan for
construction of a community gymnasium and recreational and soci,:l home contemplating
the housing of the Boys' Club and for general use by the public , requesting consider-
ation of Huff-McGregor Park as a site for the proposed building and requesting that
the City sponsor such as a W.P.A. project.
Yoved by AlderTT n Naylor that the Board approve in purpose and principle
the proposed construction of a community gymnasium and recreational center and request
the Mayor to appoint a committee of aldermen to work out details and surmhit such
proiect to the Board for final. action .
Motion seconded by Alderman 1-711liams and carried.
The Mayor thereupon appointed AMermen V,-'olf, Williams and Babb as a
Committee to serve on this matter.
Attorney Geo. Sm,)ot filed an initative petition requesting the submission
of the question of the construction of a municipal water and light plant to the
voters.
This petition was accepted by Mayor Fitzgerald and ordered filed by the
Clerk for action as ner Charter provisions governing.
Moved by Alderman Wolf that the Council authorize 9 d justment s of personal
and property taxes and settlement of same as outlined in the following schedule:

Moved by Aldermen Babb that the Board of Aldermen of the City of lrv"ichite
Falls authorize the execution fcr and on behalf of the City of I'Vichita Palls of that
certain 17orks Progress ydyMnistration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 1-38,
and being; a project to provide employment for needy professional, educations and
clerical. persons for the supervision and coordination of recreational activities, in-
cluding, recreational and leiiure time leaders for games, sports, social activities,
and the training for recreational leadership, and, further, that IV. E. Fitzgerald,
ITayor of the City of PdichitP Falls, be authorized to execute such project proposal-as
the Sponsor's agent, and that J. Bry'n V'iller, City 1'.anager, be authorized-to execute
such project proposal as the. fiscal officer of said City.
Motion seconded by Alderman Naylor and carried.
Moved by Alderman Pebb that the Roard of Aldermen of the City of Wichita
Falls do hereby allocate and set aside to that certain project described in Works
Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 1-38, and entitled
"Project to provide employment for needy* professional, educations and clerical persons
for the supervision and coordination of recreational activities, includirr recreational
and leisure time leaders for games, sperts, social activities, and the training for
recreational leadership" all those certain funds, rmteriaal errs equirment as set out
in such project proposal, ?s the Sponsor's con ribution, and being; in the total amount
of $4,020.00, and that such funds be'allocated from and constitute P. charge against
the Park-_Fund of said City.
