906 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building May 2, 1938 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session at 8:00 P. M. on the above date in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium with the following members present: W. E. Fitzgerald, Mayor Edwin A. Bebb, J. W. Fitzpatrick, � Pat Hardage, j Aldermen T. M. Williams, Frank Wolf, j J. Bryan Miller, City ','Tanager J. H. Crouch, City Clerk T. A. Hicks, City Attorney The Minutes of the last regular meeting were read. PvAoved by Alderman Bebb that the Minutes of the last regular meeting be approved as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. ORDINANCE NO. 1269 AN ORDINANCE AMMMING SECTION I OF ORDINANCE NO. 1167 PROVIDING FOR THE EXENPTI ON FROM ALL TAXATION FOR CITY PURPOSES $3,000.00 OF THE ASSESSED TAXABLE VALUE OF ALL RESIDENCE HOMESTEADS AS NOW DEFINED By LAW, WHICH ARE LOCATED AND SITUATED WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND PRO- VIDING THAT SUCH HOMESTEAD EXERPTION SHALL NOT BE ALLO;= UNLESS THE 0%,17 R THEF.EOF SHALL, AS PROVIDED BY STATUTE, RENDER SAID PROPERTY, PROVIDED FURTHER THAT THE COLLECTOR SHALL NOT ISSUE A CERTIFICATE M ANTING HCI,=EAD EXEMPTION UNTIL ALL PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES HAVE BEEN PAID BY THE PARTY CLAIMING THE EXEMPTION, SAID ORDINANCE NO, 1167 BEING ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE EXMT-TING FROM ALL TAXATION FOR CITY PURPOSES $3,000.00 OF THE ASSESSED TAXABLE VALUE OF ALL HOMSTEADS AS NOW DEFINED BY LAW, WHICH ARE LOCATED AND SITUATED WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, FROM AND AFTER THE 1ST DAY OF JANUARY, A. D. 1934% Moved by Alderman Williams that Ordinance No. 1269 be passed on its third and final reading and be adopted as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Hardage and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Williams, Hardage, Bebb, Fitzpatrick, and Wolf. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman Bebb that the Board authorize construction of sidewalk on Tenth Street at Hays along the east side of city park property under proposed VI.P.A. project. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. x Moved by Alderman Bebb that the Board authorize purchase of City of Wichita Falls Bonds in the tot 1 par value of $63,500 at a total price of $60,001.45 as per tenders scheduled legKin the records of the City Clerk, and hereby approved by the Board of Aldermen`. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. Moved by Alderman Hardage that the Board authorize the transfer of 010,000 from the Park Fund to the Sinking Fund. Motion seconded by Alderman Bebb and carried. ORDINANCE NO. 1270 AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AM ABANDONING THAT PART QF THE ALLEY RUNNING THROUGH FROM ALMA STREET TO ELEVENTH STREET. Moved by Alderman Hardage that Ordinance No. 1270 be passed on its first reading. notion seconded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Hardage, Fitzpatrick, wolf, Williams, and Bebb. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman Williams that the rules requiring ordinances to be read on three separate days be suspended and an emergency declared, and Ordinance No. 1270 be passed on its second reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Williams, Fitzpatrick, Wolf, Bebb, a nd Hardage. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman Bebb that Ordinance No. 1270 be passed on its third and final reading and be adopted as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Bebb, Fitzpatrick, Wolf, Hardage, and Killiams. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board authorize `• E. Fitzgerald as Mayor to execute certain Correction Deed dated May 2, 1938, to lack Grace and R. 0. Wood for the purpose of transferring a certain strip of land originally used as an alley between Alma Street and Eleventh Street; the same being the alley closed by Ordinance No. 1270 passed on final reading May 2nd. Motion seconded by Alderman Hardage and carried. i City Manager Miller reported to the Board the filing of new electric rate schedules by the Texas Electric Service Company showing certain small re- ductions of the prevailing ratqW, Moved by Alderman Wolf that the Board of Aldermen do not approve the insignificant reductions made effective by the Texas Electric Service Company for the City of Wichita Falls in the new schedules of rates delivered to the City Manager and reported by him to this Board; and further go on record that the said proposed reductions in rates do not meet the desire of the Board of Aldermen. Motion seconded by Ald eman Fitzpatrick and carried.
