Min 04/26/1937 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building April 26, 1937 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session at 8:30 P. M. on the above date in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium with the following members present: J. W. Fitzpatrick, I Pat Hardage, H. J. Naylor, I Aldermen J. M. Williams, I Frank Wolf, I J. Bryan Miller, City Manager J. H. Crouch, City Clerk T. A. Hicks, City Attorney In the absence of Mayor W. E. Fitzgerald it was moved by Alderman Naylor that Frank golf be appointed Mayor Protem for this meeting. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. The Minutes of the regular meeting of April 19th were read. Since there were no corrections, Mayor Protem Wolf declared the Minutes approved as read. The report of the City Manager on the request of W. I. Fellows for lease of t� proposed building on the present City Market site was accepted, and, for the reason that such proposed action by the City would not be legal, no action was taken. Ordinance No. 1252 was called -for a public hearing and there being no discussion offered, Mayor Protem deferred the hearing until the next regular meeting. The Board heard the request of petitioners asking for action on the part of the City in removal of squatters from property on Seymour Street and adjacent territory. I'layor Protem referred this matter to the City Manager for attention. Moved by Alderman Naylor that the Board grant the request of the D.A.V. and order the issuance of license and permits without charge to the Western State Shows for the period May 3 to 8, inclusive. Motion seconded by Alderman Hardage and carried. I I Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board authorize and order refund in the sum of $15.82 on Lot 4, Block 2, hest Side Floral Heights Addition, on account of homestead exemption. Motion seconded by Alderri-an Fitzpatrick and carried. Moved by Alderman Naylor that the Board authorize issuance of a permit too�zz�Z)ere. install two or more 2 inch pipe lines across Walnut Street and down Will Street 70 ft. Motion seconded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried. Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board of Aldermen authorize and order ad- justment of property and personal taxes and settlement of same as set ou in the following schedule. E. Barnett, (colored) to operate at 101 Mill Street. Motion seconded by Alderman Williams and carried. Moved by Alderman Williams that the Board order the sum of $2,000.00 paid to the Wichita General Hospital for the month of March on payment of like amount from Wichita County. Motion seconded by Alderman Naylor and carried. R. D. Kennedy and committee of citizens were heard in discussion of pro- posed Ordinance No. 1252 and the Mayor Protem referred this ordinance to the Legal E Department requesting a report be made on the legal phases at the public hearing deferred until May 3rd. s s i Ii I Marvin Smith, representing a retail division of the Chamber of Commerce, re- quested the Board's consideration and cooperation in the matter of providing the Audi- torium for the proposed revival meeting to be led by Gypsy Smith. Moved by Aldermen Fitzpatrick that the Board of Aldermen grant to the manage- ment of the proposed Gypsy Smith city-wide revival to be held in September, use of the Memorial Auditorium on an actual operating cost basis. Motion seconded by Alderman Naylor and carried. Moved by Alderman Hardage that the meeting be recessed. Motion seconded by Alderman Fitzpatrick and carried. The Board of Aldermen then recessed.
