The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session
at 7:30 P. M. on the above date in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium with
the following members present:

J. Bryan Miller, City Manager
J. H. Crouch, City Clerk
T. A. Hicks, City Attorney
The Minutes of the regular meeting of January 11 were read.
Moved by Alderman Wolf that the Minutes of the regular meeting of January
11 be approved as read.
Motion seconded by Alderman IvAller end carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 1247
ALT ORDINA.NCE PROHIBITING- THE SALE OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS WITHIN THE COR-
PORATE LEJITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS BY ANY IEALER WHERE TF7 PLACE OF BUSINESS
OF ANY SUCH DEALER IS WITHIN THREE- HUNDRED FEET (300) OF ANY CHURCH, SCHOOL OR OTHER
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION; THE MEASUREMENTS TO BE ALONG 1HE PROPERTY LINES OF THE
STREET FRONTS AND FROM FRONT DOOR TO FRONT DOOR, AND IN A DIRECT LINE ACROSS I11TER-
3ECTIONS WHERE TBEY OCCUR; PRESCRIBING A PENALTY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Moved by Alderman Miller�that Ordinance No. 1247 be passed on its third
and final reading and be adopted as read.
Motion seconded by Alderman Wolf and carried by the following vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Miller, Wolf, Naylor, Stokes, and Bebb.
Nays: None.
Moved by Alderman Wolf that the Board of Aldermen refer to the City Manager
and City Attorney the request of Milton Katz for lease of dead end of Front -Street
with authority-to renew said lease at not less than $150.00 per year.
Motion seconded by Alderman Bebb and carried,
Moved by Alderman Wolf that the Board of Aldermen defer action on all
applications .filed by taxicab companies until such time as the City Attorney shall
prepare an ordinance or amend existing ordinances to regulate the operation of
taxicabs.
Motion seconded by Alderman Naylor and carried,

Alderman Miller left the meeting excused by the Mayor.
S, V. Gose, Agent for the Great Southern Life Insurance Company, through his
representative, requested the Board to authorize the issuance of a permit t o replace
awning on building at 500 Ohio Avenue.
The Mayor referred this matter to the City Manager for investigation and
disposition.
Moved by'Alderman Naylor that the Council authorize and order adjustment of
property and personal taxes and settlement of same as set out in the following schedule�,

Iroved by Alderman Naylor that the Council authorize the City I�anager and
City Engineer to prepare specifications and advertise for bids for rehabilitation
of elevator in the "Wichita General Hospital oin:� the installation of new elevator
equipment.

struction of a spur track on Nineteenth Street to serve the Wichita Mill & Elevator
Company and on the Wichita Valley Railway as set out in Yap by drawing No. C-650 of the
Y.K.T. Railroad Company of Texas.

Moved by Alderman Naylor that the Board of Aldermen refer to the City Clerk pet-
ition filed January 18, 1937, petitioning amendment of the Charter of the City of Wichita
Falls to create a Board of Civil Service Commissioners and instruct the City Clerk to
investigate and check said petition and act thereon according to the terms and pro-
visions of the City Charter,
Motion seconded by Alderman Wolf and carried.
Moved by Alderman Wolf that the meeting be adjourned.
