Memorial Auditorium Building
January 20, 1936
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session
at 7:30 P. M. on the above date in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium with
the following members present:

Minutes of the previous regular meeting of January 13, 1936 were read end
approved in part by Mayor Young. Minutes of previous meetings called on January 15,
16, and 17 were read and the Mayor refused to sign minutes of these meetings.
Moved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen appoint Thelbert
Martin as Acting City Attorney during the basence of City Attorney W. E. George at
the gas rate case in Austin,
Motion seconded by Alderman Miller and carried.
After discussion relative the establishment of Highway 66 entrance into
the City Mayor Young appointed Alderman V. E. Stampfli and Acting City Attorney
Martin to cooperate with the representativeA�,appointed by the Highway Department in
securing definite optiow for Right-of-'Way over route known as Virginia Street route.
Dr. H. T. Wood representing the Ministerial Alliance requested th ard
of Aldermen to study the recommendations of the Ministerial Allienbe and th:;neral
directors of the City that the City cease issuing cemetery permits on Sundays, ex-
cepting in cases of emergencies.
The action on this recommendation was deferred.
Moved by Alderman Miller that the Board of Aldermen approve employment of
a CASE 19ORKER recommended by the Community Chest at a salary of $75.00 per month
for an indeterminate period.
Motion seconded by Alderman Taylor and carried.

Moved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Tqi ch it a
Falls authorize the execution for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls of that
certain orks Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsorts Proposal No. 19, and
being a project to furnish labor and equipment for cleaning and shaping the City Aque-
duct from the treatment plant to Lake Wichita, and, further, that John T. Young, Mayor
of the City of Wichita Falls, be authorized to execute such project proposal at the
Sponsor's agent, and that Uack Thomasl City Manager be authorized to execute such
project proposal as the fiscal officer of said City.
Motion seconded by Alderman Miller and carried.
Moved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen of the city of Wichita
Falls do hereby allocate and set aside to that certain project described in Works
Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsorts Proposal No. 19, and entitled
"Project to furnish labor and equipment for cleaning and shaping the City Aqueduct from
the treatment plant to Lake Wichita", all those certain funds, material, and equipment
as set out in such project proposal, as the Sponsorts contribution, and being in the
total amount of $602.50, and that such funds be allocated from and constitute a charge
against the Water Fund of said City.
Motion seconded by Alderman Miller and carried.
Moved by Alderman Walker that the Board of Aldermen authorize and instruct
the City Tax Collector and the City Treasurer to make the following tax refuno.
Tom B. Stephens, Lot 8, Block 42, Southland Addition, the sum of $7.77
L. S, Lewis, Lot 14, Block 6, Scotland Addition, the sum of $4.48.
Motion seconded by Alderman Miller and carried.
At this point the Board of Aldermen went into executive session for the
purpose of considering certain financial problems of the City.
Following this discussion the doors of the Council ROOM were opened and the
meeting resumed open order of business,
Moved by Alderman Walker that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried.,
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned*
