Min 10/28/1935 "Vichita Falls, Texas Lemorial Auditorium Building October 28, 1935 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session at 7:30 P. V. on the above date in the Council Room in the 4morial Auditorium with the following members present: John T. Young, Mayor V. E. Stampfli, Iviack Taylor, 1ark D. Walker, L. C, Rodgers, Aldermn Claude Viller, 1. B. Stokes, kack Thomas, City 1danager J. H. Crouch, City Clerk The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Moved by Alderman Rodgers that the application of G. E. Malone for a permit to operate the Avalon Dance Hall be approved and license issued. liotion seconded by Alderman Miller and carried. Yloved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls authorize the execution for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls of that certain 'Works Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 11, and being a project to improve Hamilton and Weeks Parks, and, further, that John T. Young, Mayor of the City of Wichita Falls, be authorized to execute such project proposal as the Sponsor's agent , and that lack Thonas, City Lanager, be authorized to execute such project proposal as the fiscal officer of said City. Yotion seconded by Alderman Xiller and carried. Loved by Alderman Taylor that the Boaro of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls do hereby allocate and set aside to that certain project described in Works Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 11, and entitled "Improvement of Hamilton and Weeks Parks" all those certain funds, material and equipment as set out in such project proposal, as the Sponsor's contribution, and being in the total amount of $9,105.25, and that such funds be allocated from and constitute a charge against the Park Fund of said City. Yoved by Alderman killer that the City k4anager, on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls, be authorized to sign a letter of agreement dated October 28, 1935, with Lester Jones, Trustee, relative a certain strip of land and necessary improve- ments for the straightening of Holliday Creek Channel. 1--otion seconded by Alderman Taylor and carried. koved by Alderman Walker that the Board of Aldermen order refund of $42.00 to C. H. Parker for taxes paid on Lot 4, Block 3, Country Club Estates, on account Of homestead exemption, Motion seconded by Alderman killer and carried, t_'oved by Alderman Iv.iller that the Board of Aldermen authorize refund of $98.36 to E. A. Bebb for taxes paid on South one-half and North one-half of Arbitrary Letters P K U P, Abstract No. 300, Tax Collector's receipt No. 17629, on account of double payment of taxes on this property. h.otion seconded by Alderman Taylor and carried. Itoved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen of the City of 1,'jichita Falls request Congreemen6 DicFarland to urge P.-W.A. authorities in Washington, D.C.,to act favorably on the City of Wichita Falls' applications for P.i',T.A. grants and loans for the prupose of building a light and power plant; installing new gas distribution system and rebuilding a water supply and distribution system, with the understanding that the Board of Aldermen, insofar.as they may, will pledge revenues from the ',,Vater system for the retirement of said P.J.A. loans. Yotion seconded by Aldermen Liller and carried by the following vote: Yeast. Aldermen Rodgers, Taylor, ILiller, and Stokes. Nays: Aldermen 'Walker and Stampfli, and Mayor Young. Moved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen authorize installation of sign by the L,,agnolia Petroleum Conpany on Tenth Street at Tenth and Scott with the understanding that said sign will be removed at the discretion of the Board Of Alderren or the City Engineer. Ylotion seconded by Alderman killer and carried. Moved by Alderman Walker that the Board of Aldermen order installation of Park-o-Y-eters on the west side of Indiana Avenue from "�eventh to 1�inth, on Scott jkvenue from Seventh to Ninth, on Seventh Street from Scott to Indiana, on Eighth Street from Lamar to Ohio, and on Ninth Street from Scott to Indiana on a folT months' trial basis with the understanding that should they not prove satisfactory they will be removed with no expense whatever to the City of Wichita Falls. Y-otion seconded by Alderman 6tampfli and failed to carry by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Walker and Stampfli. Nays: Aldermen Rodgers, Stokes, Taylor, and 1-iller. Lurs. Grover C. Johnson and h.rs. S. E. Trevathan, representing the Woman's Good Government League, requested the Board of Aldermen to take some action to regulate or remove marble machines from the business houses of wichita Falls. b,-oved by Aldeman Rodgers that the City Attomey be instructed to prepare ordinance prohibiting use of marble machines under certain condtions and prohibiting the playing of marble machines by any person sixteen years of age or under. Kotion seconded by Alderman Yiller and carried. Moved by Alderman Stampfli that the meeting be adjoumed. Yotion seconded by Alderman Stokes and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned. Nays: Alderman Rodgers. koved by Alderman Stampfli that the meeting be adjourned. Lotion seconded by Alderman killer and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
