Min 09/16/1935 i 71chita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building September 16, . 1935 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date at 7:30 P. 11, in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium with the following members present: John T. Young, Mayor Nark D. `balker, Q V. E. Stampfli, Q L. C. Rodgers, Q Claude killer, j Aldermen J. B. Stokes, j Lack Taylor, j Mack Thomas, City Manager W. E. George, City Attorney J. H. Crouch, City Clerk The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. ORDINANCE NO. 1207 AN ORDINANCE CREATING A CITY MARKET, PROVIDING THAT EVERY PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION OFFERING FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FOR SALE AT WHOLESALE OR RETAIL IN THE CITY OF ?*JICHITA FALLS SHALL TAKE SUCH FOOD PRODUCTS TO CITY MARKET FOR INSPECTION; PROVIDING AN INSPECTION FEE; PROVIDING FOR PROPER LIGHTING, DRAINING AND VENTILATING `!JFERE FOOD STUFF IS OFFERED FOR SALE; PROHIBITING SALE OF UNSOUND AND UNWHOLESOME FOOD PRODUCTS; PROVIDING FOR SCREENS TO BE ERECTED; CREATING OFFICE OF INSPECTOR; PROVIDING SURETY BOND; PRESCRIBING DUTIES OF INSPECTOR AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. ORDINANCE NO. 1208 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING, ASSESSING, AND FIXING THE RATE OF TAXATION IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, FOR TIM YEAR A.D. 1935, AND LEVYING AN OCCUPATION TAX ON ALL OCCUPATIONS TAXABLE UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS AND THE CHARTER AND ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY, AND DECLARING AN EL2RGENCY. Moved by Alderman Rodgers that Ordinance No. 1208 be passed on its first reading. Potion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Rodgers, Stampfli, Stokes, '.Walker, Taylor, and Miller. Nays: None. 9 1 ORDINANCE NO. 1209 AN ORDINANCE MAKING ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OUT OF THE UNAPPROPRIATED BALANCE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FISCAL YEAR FOR THE SUPPORT OF TEiE CITY GOVERNMENT FOR TBE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING APRIL 19 1935, AND ENDING MARCH 310 1936, AND IECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Moved by Alderman Walker that Ordinance No. 1209 be passed on its first reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Miller and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Talker, Miller, Taylor, Stampfli, Stokes, and Rodgers. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman Rodgers that the rule requiring ordinances to be read on three separate days be suspended and an emergency declared and Ordinance No. 1209 be passed on its second reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Rodgers and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Miller, Rodgers, Stampfli, Stokes, Taylor and Salker. Nays: None. e i 1 f 0 i i Moved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen authorize the City Treasurer to transfer the sum of $25,000.00 from the Nater Fund to the Street Fund for the purpose of covering overdraft and augmenting operating fund of the Street Department. Yotion seconded by Alderman 17alker and carried. Attorneys for Walter Brown filed formal claim with the Board of Aldermen for damages in the sum of $7,500.00. This matter was referred to the City Attorney for attention. Attorneys for L. H. McGaughey filed a formal claim with the Board of Alder- ment for damages in the sum of $1 500.00. This claim was referred b or to t� r y the as y he City Attorney without action by the Board of Aldermen. ! E moved by Alderman Stampfli that the City Treasurer be authorized and in- structed to pay over to the Wichita Falls Police Relief Fund the sum of $27.50; this being the amount of money collected by the City Tax office from Harley Sadler Shows for the benefit of the Police Relief Fund. Motion seconded by Alderman killer and carried. Loved by Alderman Rodgers that the use of the Memorial Auditorium on the night of November 8 be granted the Masonic Lodge; the Masonic Lodge to be charged only for the amount of operating expense. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. s Moved by Alderman Miller that the Board of Aldermen hereby authorize a 15% reduction on land values for the year 1935. i Motion seconded by Alderman Walker and carried. i Moved by Alderman Walker that the Uity tanager and Chief of Police be r instructed to put into effect request of the Highway Department relative to traffic parking on Highway No. 5 from Sixth Street south to the City Limits.
