Min 09/02/1935 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building September 2, 1935 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session at 7:30 P.M. on the above date in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium with the following members present: John T. Henderson, Acting City Clerk The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. loved by Alderman Walker that the Board of Aldermen aut) orize payment of the sum of �50.00 to A. Kriss and Wife, Etta kae Kriss, for the purchase of Lot 10, Block 9, County Club Addition, for the purpose of straightening out Holliday Creek. kotion seconded by Alderman Miller and carried. City Attorney W. E. George made the following report on his investigation of certain claims for the City: C. A. Fuchs, 301 Live Oak St. vs CITY OF WICHITA FALLS. I have this day, the 27th day of August, A.D. 1935, investigated the above claim agains the City of Wichita Falls for damage to the property at the above address and find that there y� are no damages and recommend that none be paid. Mrs. lil. N. Ferrell, 2511 Princeton, Wichita Falls, Texas. I have this day the 27th day of August, A.D. 1935, gone on the premises and looked this situation over and find that there were no damages done P.rs. Ferrell or her property by the City of Wichita Falls, and recommend that none be paid. Moved by Alderman Taylor that the City enter into a contract with the South- western Life Insurance Company for an easement for the purpose of straightening out and widening Holliday Creek. Motion seconded by Alderman Walker and carried. Moved by Alderman Walker that the City of Wichita Falls Tax Department be authorized to accept from J. J. Perkins bond interest coupons in the amount of $622.50 to apply as part payment on his city taxes; said bond interest coupons to be paid out of Special Interest and Sinking Funds only. Nays: Alderman Rodgers, y i a 0 E i Moved by Alderman Taylor that the use of the Memorial Auditorium Building be granted to the Commissioners' Court of Wichita County, Texas, for Works Progress Administration project known as "Wichita County Sewing Room" for a period of one year beginning September 1, 1935. Motion seconded by Alderman Diller and carried* f f Moved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls authorize the execution for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls of that certain forks Progress Administration project proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 5, and being a project to furnish a Superintendent and six foremen, labor, equipment, and materials for Cleaning the Shore Line of Lake Wichita and the cleaning and clearing of the channel of Holiday and Panther Creeks and, further, that John T. Young, Mayor of the City of Wichita Falls, be authorized to execute such project proposal as the Sponsor's agent, and that back Thomas, City hanager be authorized to execute such pro- ject proposal as the fiscal officer of said City. f Motion seconded by Alderman Rodgers and carried. i i loved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls do hereby allocate and set aside to that certain project described in Works Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 5, and entitled "Lake Wichita Shore Cleaning and the Cleaning and Draining of Holliday Creek, Panther Creek, and their tributaries, and those certain funds, material and equipment as set out in such project proposal, as the Sponsor's contribution, and being in the total amount of 44,855.00, and that such funds be allocated from and constitute a charge against the Plater Fund of said City. Motion seconded by Alderman Rodgers and carried. Moved by Alderman Walker that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls authorize the execution for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls of that certain Works Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 6, and being a project to furnish one Superintendent, twelve foremen and labor, equipment, and materials for the straightening of Holliday Creek from a point 200 feet west of Jasper Street to the north end of Weeks Park and, further, that John T. Young, Mayor of the City of Wichita Falls, be authorized to execute such project proposal as the Sponsor's agent, and that Mack Thomas, City kanager, be authorized to execute such project proposal as the fiscal officer of said City. Moved by Alderman Rodgers that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls do hereby allocate and set aside to that certain project described in Works Prog- ress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 6, and entitled "Cleaning and Straightening of Holliday- Creek from 200' W. of Jasper St. to :'leeks Park all those certain funds, material and equipment as set out in such project proposal, as the Sponsor's contribution, and being in the total amount of $7,8�O.OQ, and that such funds be allocated from and constitute a charge against the General Fund of .said City. Moved by Alderman Walker that the board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls authorize the execution for and on behalf of the City of 4ichita Falls of that certain Works Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 10, and being a project to furnish labor and materials for the graveling of the drives in Riverside Cemetery, and, further, that John T. Young, Mayor of the City of Wichita Falls, be authorized to execute such project proposal as the Sponsor's agent, and that black Thomas, City tanager, be authorized to execute such project proposal as the fiscal officer of said City. Motion seconded by Alderman Rodgers and carried, Moved by Alderman Walker that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls do hereby allocate and set aside to that certain project described in ?forks Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 10, and entitled "Graveling Drives in Riverside Cemetery." All those certain funds, material and equipment as set out in such project proposal, as the Sponsor's contribution, and being in the total amount of $1,665,00, and that such funds be allocated from and constitute a charge against the Park Fund of said City. Baker to erect a frame one story building 26 ft. square on Lots 6 and part of 7, Block 190, Original Townsite, for the purpose of operating a retail fruit and vegetable store, subject, however, to the approval of the City Engineer. Loved by Alderman Walker that Mayor Young be authorized to sign preliminary applications for Works Progress Administration projects No. 11, 12, 13, and 14. Motion seconded by Alderman Miller and carried. Moved by Alderman Stempfli that the City Manager be authorized to sign Bill of Sale to J. L. McClure for one Chrysler Coupe, Motor No. 226222, for a consideration of $1.00 and other valuable considerations. Motion seconded by Alderman Miller end carried. Loved by Alderman Walker that the City Clerk be authorized to pay taxes on i Lots 1 to 8, inclusive, Block 31, Barwise & Jalonic Addition, for the years 1930, 1931, , 1932, 1933, and 1934, due the Wichita County Water Improvement District No. 1 in the amount of $114,41. f Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Taylor, Stampfli, Walker, and &filler. Moved by Alderman Rodgers that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls authorize the execution for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls of that certain ;forks Progress Administration Project Proposal, Sponsor's Proposal No. 8, and being a project to furnish an assistant to City Librarian, and further , that John T. Young, Mayor of the City of ichita Falls , be authorized to execute such project pro- posal as the Sponsor's agent, and that Pearl Goldstucke r, Acting City Manager, be authorized to execute such project proposal as the fiscal officer of said City.
