Min 07/22/1935 r Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building July 22, 1935 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session at 7:30 P.M. on the above date in the Council Chamber in the Lemorial Auditorium with the following members present: John T. Young, Mayor J. B. Stokes, L. C. Rodgers, Mark D. Walker, Aldermen Lack Taylor, � Claude Miller, t4ack Thomas, City Manager J. H. Crouch, City Clerk R 1'1. E. George, City Attorney The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Moved by Alderman Miller that the Board of Aldermen allow a special permit to the Continental Oil Company to erect a triangular advertising sign at the company owned station located at 12th and Scott, known as Station No. 13, with the under- standing that said company will remove the sign at the discretion of the Board of Aldermen or the City Engineer. Motion seconded by Alderman Rodgers and carried. Moved by Alderman Miller that a refund of $2.00 be ordered and allowed to E. G. Scott on account of Chauffeur's license paid in error. Moved by Alderman Diller that a committee composed of Aldermen L. C. Rodgers, Vic Stampfli and City Attorney +. E. George- be appointed to look into the legality of the recall petitions of Mayor John T. Young and Alderman Mack Taylor, and that said committee be instructed to investigate the regularity of each of said petitions and to report back to this body its recommendations, together with a suitable and proper date for holding said elections, if such committee deems it necessary. Motion seconded by Alderman Stokes and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Rodgers, Stokes, Taylor, and Miller, Nays: Alderman Walker ORDINANCE N0. 1206 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE h AXIMUb CHARGES TO BE MADE BY ANY PERSON, FIRM, COR- PORATION, RECEIVER OR LESSEE OPERATING A TELEPHONE SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, FIXING THE DATE FOR TEE PAYdENT OF BILLS AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR ITS VIOLATION, moved by Alderman Taylor that Ordinance No. 1206 be passed on its first reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Miller and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen, Taylor, Miller, Stokes, Rodgers, and Walker. Nays: None, ORDINANCE N0. 1189 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE MAXD= CHARGES TO BE MADE BY ANY PERSON, FIRM, COR- PORATION, RECEIVER OR LESSEE FURNISHING- ELECTRICITY AND ELECTRICAL ENERGY FOR COI&ER- CIAL AND DOMESTIC USE RITHIN TIE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS; FIXING TIE DATE FOR THE PAIMENT OF BILLS AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR ITS VIOLATION. Moved by Alderman Stokes that Ordinance No. 1189 be passed on its third reading. 1:otion seconded by Alderman Taylor with the following result: Yeas: Aldermen Stokes, Taylor, and Rodgers. Nays: Aldermen Ailler, Walker, and Mayor Young. Iowed by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen set and hereby order a public hearing on Ordinance No. 1189 and Ordinance No. 1206 for 8:00 o'clock P.D. July 29, 1935, and the City Clerk be instructed to notify the Texas Electric Service Company and the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company of this hearing.
