Min 07/15/1935 228 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building July 15, 1935 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session at 7:30 P.W. on the above date in the Council Chamber in the Memorial Auditorium with the following members present: John To Young, bayor Claude L'iller, T. B, Stokes, L. C. Rogers, Aldermen liark, Do 11alker, Mack Taylor, Lack Thomas, City Manager J. H. Crouch, City Clerk E. George, City kttorney The 111inutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. 1,,oved by Alderman Walker that the Board of Aldermen authorize approval and payment of $2,500.00 to thelwichita General Hospital for the month of May 1935, Motion seconded by Alderman Rodgers and carried. Loved by Alderman Walker that the Board of Aldermen approve and grant chauffeur's licenses to E. Go Scott, So Do Parchman, and �Iack Mitchell, Motion seconded by Alderman Rodgers and carried. Yoved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen authorize the Tax Collector to cancel and the City Treasurer be instructed to refund the following items: $10,04 to 17. L. Sheets on Lot 10, Block 221, Original Townsite, 1934 taxes, On account of Homestead exemption, 012.04 to J. Go Quinn, Agent for 011ie Hager, paid to the Tax Collector on June 28, 1935, Receipt No, 23100, on account of Homestead exemption, Motion seconded by Alderman Rodgers and carried. ORDINANCE NO,1205 AN ORDIMANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1183 PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDEF&EN OF TBE CITY OF '�lICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, ON ME 26TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, A.D. 1934, ENTITLED -AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE DISCHARGE AND FIRING OF FIREWORKS, ROMAN CPiNDIES, SKY ROCKETS9 TORPEDOES, FIRE CRACKERS9 CANNON CRACKERS OR ANY OTHER KIND OF FIRE WORKS WITHIN THE FIRE LIMITS WITHIN ANY PLACE OF BUSINESS$ OR OTHER PLACE !!MRE PEOPLE ARE CONGREGATED FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE, AND UPON THE STREETS AND PUBLIC WAYS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS; REGUIATING AND LICENSING THE BUSINESS OF SELLING FIRE WORKS, ROMAN CANDLES, SKY ROCKETS, TORPEDOES, FIRE CRACKERS, CANNON CRACKERS AND ANY OTHER KIND OF FIRE WORKS IN THE SAID CITY OF WICHITA FALLS; PROHIBITING THE SALE OF ------------ SUCH FIRE WORKS WITHIN THE FIRE LIMITS OF SAID CITY UPON THE STREEETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC WAYS OF THE CITY AND IN FRONT OF AND IN OR NEAR THE ENTRANCES TO PLACES OF BUSINESS; RECJJIRING ANY PERSON9 FIRM OR CORPORATION BEFORE ENGAGING IN THE BUSINESS OF SEILING FIRE WORKS AT RETAIL TO APPLY TO AND PROCURE FROM THE TAX COLLECTOR OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS A LICENSE TO SO ENGAGE IN SAID BUSINESS AND PAY THEREFOR AN ANNUAL LICENSE FEE OF T-NO AND 50/100 ($2.50) DOLLARS; AND PROVIDING THAT SUCH SAIES SHALL ONLY BE MADE AT ESTABLISHED PLACES OF BUSINESS AND STORE HOUSES AND WITHIN SUCH BUILDINGS; PROVIDING A PENALTY; PROVIDING THE INVALIDITY OF ANY PROVISION OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL NOT AFFECT THE OTHER PROVISIONS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT 'YITH THIS ORDINANCE AND EECLARING AN EMERGENCY* Moved by Alderman Taylor that Ordinance No. 1205 be passed on its first reading* 'tial Motion seconded by Alderman Iker and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Taylor, Walker, Rodgers, Stokes, and killer, Nays: None, Moved by Alderman Taylor that the Board of Aldermen authorize W. E, George and B. D. Sartin, Sattorney, to secure the setting and trial of the gas rate case now pending on appeal in the Travis County District Court, Motion seconded by Alderman Rodgers and carried, The CIVIC DIVISION of the Chamber of Commerce composed of a majority of the civic clubs represented by Dr. H. T. Wood offered to the Council the cooperation of i this Division in the filling of all possible applications for W.P.A, projects of Wichita Falls,' and listed suggestions of such projects believed feasible and possible of accomplishment, Petitions presented to the Council by citizens of the North Side were referred to the City Manager. Resolution by the Ministerial Alliance addressed to the Council- was read by Secretary Osborne, endorsing and approving all -efforts of law enforcement by the City.
