Min 02/04/1935 Wichita Falls, Texas I'Lemorial Auditorium Building February 4, 1935 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session at 7 :30 P.M. on the above date in the Council Cham- ber in the Memorial Auditorium with the following members present : John T. Young, Mayor Claude Miller L. C. Rodgers: Mark D. Walker, Aldermen V. E. Stampf li, A. H. Douglass, City Manager J. H. Crouch, City Clerk E. George, City Attorney The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. ORDINANCE NO. 1191 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 9349 PASSED AND AP_ PROVED ON THE 12TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, A.D. 1927j, ENTITLED: "AN ORDI- NANCE RMULATING THE BUSINESS OF JUNK DEALERS A1qD DEALERS IN SECOND HAND GOODS, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE -FAILURE TO COMPIY WITH PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE. Moved by Alderman Rodgers that the Board of Aldermen approve recommendation of the Hospital Board f or repairs to the hospital diet kitchen subject to approval of the County Court. Motion seconded by Alderman Walker and carried. Moved by Alderman Rodgers that the following resolution be adopted. Motion seconded by Alderman Stanpfli and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Rodgers, STampflij Miller, Walker and Mayor Young, Nays: None, RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF AIDMIEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS meeting in regular session approve the following resolution That the City of Wichita Falls furnish free of cost to the Wichita County Board of Welfare and Employment, one superintendent,, two foremen, one time keeper and equipment listed in the application for a project entitled Holliday Creek Channel Change . The estimated value of . this service is placed at $29130.00. The Manager of the Chamber of Commerce called attention to the fact that the State Hospital located in Wichita Falls has been elimi nated by the State Board of Control from recommendations of the legi lature for improvements and expansion and requested the cooperation of the Board of Aldermen with the County and Chamber of Commerce in ap- pearing before the State Board of Control and the Legislature in efforts to secure favorable consideration of the state hospital. Moved by Alderman Miller that the Board of Aldermen request the Mayor to represent the City in this matter and that the City Manager be instructed to write letters on behalf of the City to the State RepresentatIves urging favorable consideration of the State Hospital located in Wichita Falls. Young, Mayor Claude Miller, L. C. Rodgers, J. B. Stokes'. Aldermen Mark Walker, V. & Stampfli, A. H. Douglass, City Manager J. H. Crouch City Clerk W. E. George, City Attorney Moved by Alderman -'Nalker that the following resolution be adopted. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli with the following result. Yeas: Aldermen Walker,, Stanpfli, and Mayor Young, Nays: Aldermen Miller, Rodgers, and Stokes. Alderman Miller requested 'that his -vote be recorded nay in order to defer final settlement. F-) 0 RESOLUTION WEEREAS, during the last few years, the amount of taxes becom- 1, ing delinquent has been increasing, and this condition exists on account 1 of the financial inability of the majority of taxpayers of the City, thereby causing the Interest and Sinking Funds to be insufficient to meet all the interest falling due; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN: That the City of Iffichita Falls accept in payment of taxes any interest coupons only, which are due and payable by the City of Wichita Falls so long as there is sufficient balance in the Interest and Sinking Fund thus effected to pay coupons presented, and that such interest coupons be accepted in payment of city taxes only until this order is repealed and voided by the Board of Aldermen.
