Min 10/22/1934 rIichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building October 22, 1934 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chamber in the Memorial Auditorium with the following members present: John T. Young, Mayor, V. E. Stampfli, X L. C. Rodgers, X Ray Puckett, Aldermen, Mark D. Walker, Mack Taylor, j A. H. Douglass, City Manager, J. H. Crouch, City Clerk, 17. E. George, City Attorney. The meeting was opened with prayer. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. ORDINANCE NO 1177 AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE WICHITA FALLS GAS COM1)ANY, UNDER WHICH NAME AND STYLE T. J. HUTCHERSON DOES BUSINESS, AND TO HIS HEIRS AND ASSIGNS, THE RIGHTS, PRIVIIEGES, FRANCHISE, AND LI- CENSE OVER, ON, AND ACROSS THE STREETS AND AI.LEY'S OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, TO TRANSMIT, TRANSPORT, AND DISTRIBUTE, ERECT AND M'iAINTAIN A SYSTEM NECESSARY FOR THE: PURPOSE OF DISTRIBUTING NATURAL OR ARTIFICIAL GAS TO CITIZENS AND RESI DEBTS OF WICHITA FALLS, INCLUDING DOMESTIC, COMMERCIAL, AND INDUSTRIAL CUSTOMERS THEREOF AND INCIUDING THE CITY ITSELF, FOR THE PURPOSE OF FURNISH- ING FUEL, HEAT, TIGHT AND POWER AMID PROVIDING FOR A SCHEDULE OF REASONABI E CHARGES AMID FOR THE COMPLETION OF ITS PIPE LINES INTO SAID CITY WITHIN A PERIOD OF TWELVE MONTHS FROM THE FINAL. PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE, AND PROVIDING FOR A CONTINUATION OF THIS FRAN- CHISE AMID THE RIGHTS HEREIN GRANTED FOR A PERIOD OF 25 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF ITS FINAL PASSAGE. Moved by Alderman Taylor that Ordinance No. 1177 be passed and approved as to final form and that said ordinance be officially published as required by the City Charter. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Stampfli, Taylor, Walker and Mayor Young. Nays: Aldermen Rodgers and Puckett. I I I 10 i i ORDINANCE NO. 1178 i AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR LICENSING OF COIN, S1TTG, OR CHECK OPERATED MACHINES OPERATING GAMES OF SKILL OR OPERATED FOR AMUSW-,SqT OR FOR THE PURPOSE OF VENDING AND MACHINES OPERATED FOR SIMIIAR PURPOSES, PROVIDING FOR LICENSE FEE AND PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO OBTAIN LICENSE AND f PAY THE FEE PROVIDED HEREIN, AND PROVIDING FOR CANCEI LATION OF LICENSE UPON CERTAIN? CONDITIONS, Moved by Alderman Stampfli that Ordinance No. 1178 be passed on its third and final reading and be adopted as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Walker and carried by the follow- ing vote: Yeas: Aldermen Stampfli, rialker, Taylor, Rodgers, Puckett, and Mayor Young. Nays : None. ORDINANCE NO.1179 AN ORDINANCE WHEREBY THE CITY OF WICHITA FALIS,- AND THE SOUTH- WESTERN BEEI TELEPHONE COMPANY AGREE THAT THE TEI EPHONE COMPANY SHALL CONTINUE TO ERECT AND MAINTAIN ITS POLES, WIRES, ANCHORS, CABLES, MAN- HOLES, CONDUITS, AND OTHER PLANT CONSTRUCTION AND APPURTENANCES ALONG, ACROSS, ON, OVER, THROUGH, ABOVE, AND UNDER ALL PUBLIC STREETS, AVENUES, ALLEYS, PUBLIC GROUNDS AND PLACES IN SAID CITY, UNDER CONDITIONS, REGU- LATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS, AND THAT THE CITY SHALL RECEIVE AN ANNUAL PAYMENT AND THE RIGHT TO USE CERTAIN FACILITIES OF THE TELEPHONE COMPANY ALL AS HEREIN PROVIDED. Moved by Alderman Rodgers that: the Council table and defer consideration for one week. Motion seconded by Alderman Puckett and carried by the follow- ing vote: Yeas: Aldermen Rodgers, Puckett , Taylor, Stampfli, and Mayor Young. Nays: Alderman 1,7alker. ` Moved by Alderman Rodgers that the City allow end order paid s $400.00 to 11. A. Camp and wife, Gertrude Camp, as final settlement of damage claim. Motion seconded by Alderman Puckett and carried. Moved by Alderman Walker that the City allow 47.50 to A. L. Huey for services in appraising damage to property of W. W. Camp. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. 10 .t Move d by Alderman Talker that the Wichita Transit Corpora- tion be authorized to change the route of the Tilden bus line to operate over Seventh Street to Van Buren, thence Van Buren to Roberts, thence Roberts to Filmore, thence over present route, dis- continuing service entirely over Eighth Street. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. Moved by Alderman Walker that the City permit T. S. Jordan to maintain a grocery store building and business at 2200 Eighth St. subject to required inspection. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. Moved by Alderman Walker that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Stampfli and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned. READ AMID APPROVED this the 29th day of October 1934.
