The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in
regular' session on the above date at 7 :30 P.M. in the Council Chamber
in the Memorial Auditorium. Roll call indicated the following

The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Moved by Alderman V;alker that the time f or pa-yment, of 1932
and prior years delinquent 'taxes with the penalty of be extended
to September 1, 1954.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Taylor and carried.
ORDINANCE NO 1167
AN OMINLNCE EKEMPTING FROM ALL TAXATION FOR CITY PURPOSES
THREE THOUSAND ($3,000.00) DOLIARS OF THE ASSESSED TAXABLE VALIZ OF
ALL RESIDENCE HOMESTEADS, AS NOW DEFINED BY LAW, WHICH ARE LOCATED
AND SITUATED WITHIN THE CORPOPATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICH'ITA
FALLS, TEXAS, FROM AND AFTER THE IST DAY OF JANUARY, A.D. 1934.
Moved by Alderman Taylor that Ordinance No. 1167 be
passed on its second reading.
Motion seconded by Alderman Fox and carried by the fol-
lowing vote :
Yeas: Aldermen Taylor , Fox, Walker, beaton, and 11yers,
and Mayor Young,
Nays : None.
Moved by Alderman Deaton that Wayne D. Sharp be granted a
chauffeur' s license.

Moved by Alderman Taylor that the voting box originally
placed at Morrison Drug Stcre, 9th and Van Buren, be moved to the
Floral Heights Pharmacy at 10th and Van Buren Streets due to the
fact that Mr. Morrison refused to all&w his drug store to be used
as a voting place on July 27.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Myers and carried.
Moved by Alderman Walker that Fred Morris and S. H.
Hodges be granted a license to operate a public domino parlor at
812 Scott Avenue,
The motion was seconded by Alderman Taylor and carried.
Moved by Alderman Myers that the delinquent date of the
last half of 1933 city taxes be extended to September 19 1954.
The motion was seconded by Aldeman Deaton and carried.
Alderman Taylor introducted the following resolution:
RESO LUTI ON
A RESOLUTION INSTRUCTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO DRAFT
PROPM ORDINANCE FIXING THE RATES TO BE CHARGED BY TELEPHOhT AIM
ELIETRIC LIGHT COMPANIES
Be it resolved by the City Council of Wichita Falls,
Texasq that the present and existing telephone and electric rates
charged by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company� and the Texas
Electric Service Company, are excessive and out of line with fair
and reasonable rates charged by other American cities, we,, there-
fore call upon the City Attorney to draft suitable and proper
ordinances to reduce the present high and exorbitant charges of
these utilities to the following schedule:
First: That the business telephones in Wichita Falls be reduced
from �7 .00 to 44.00 per month, anff that residenee phones
be reduced from P.00 to $2.00 per month.
Second** That electric light rates and other electric power rates
be fixed at the rates charged by the City of Seattles
Washington, which are as follows:
