The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met on abOVO date
in regular session at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chamber in the
Memorial Auditorium. Roll call indicated the following members
present:
John T. Young, Mayor
George D. Fox,
Mack Taylor,
Mark D. Walker, Aldermen
Raymond 11. Myers,
Leon L. Deaton,
V. R. Smitham, City Manager
E. 1,FcBroom, City Clerk
Thelbert Martin, City Attorney
The IvAnutes of the previous meeting were read and
approved.-
Moved by Alderman Deaton that the application of Jeffery
Simmons for chauffeur's permit be approved.
Motion seconded by Alderman Myers and carried,
Moved by Alderman Deaton that the bid of Merkle Under-
taking Company for ambulance service for one year beginning May 15,
1934, and ending May 15 , 1935, at a cost to the City of 42.00 per
call be accepted.
Motion seconded by Alderman Iviyers and carried.
A petition from the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen
opposing salary cuts or city employees was read to the Board.
as amended on may 7th.
Copies of Ordinance No. 1154fiere given each member of
the Board by Alderman Myers.

AN ORDINANCE I'AKING APPROPRIATIOIZ FOR SUPPORT OF THE CITY
GOVERNITNT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING APRIL 1. 1934, AND ENDING
MARCH 31, 1935, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Moved by Alderman 11yers that Ordinance No. llb4 be passed
on its second reading.
Motion seconded by Alderman Fox and put by the Mayor with
the following result:
Yeas: Aldermen Myers, wox, and Deaton.
Nays: Aldermen Walker and Taylor and Mayor Young.
The Mayor declared the vote to be a tie .
ORDINANCE No. 1155
AN ORDINANCE MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE CURRENT EXPENSES OF1
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS CHARGEABLE TO THE APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE FIS_
CAL YEAR BEGINNING APRIL 1. 19349 AND ENDING MARCH 319 19359 TO COVER
THE NECESSARY EXPENSES OF VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS, DIVISIONS, AND OFFICES
FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME ENDING MAY 159 1934, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Moved by Alderman Taylor that Ordinance No. 1155 be passed on
its first reading.
Motion seconded by Alderman Walker and carried by the follow-
ing vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Taylor, Walker, Fox, Deaton, and Myers and
Mayor Young,
Nays: None,
Moved by Alderman Myers that the rules requiring ordinances
to be passed on three separate days be suspended anA- an emergency de-
clared, and Ordinance No. 115,!�,be passed on its sioond reading..
Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried by the follow-
ing vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Myers, Deaton, Walker, Fox, and Taylor, and
Mayor Young.
Nays:, None.
Moved by Alderman Taylor that Ordinance No. 115�be passed on
its third and final reading and be adopted as read.
Motion seconded by Alderman Walker and carried by the follow-
ing vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Taylor, Walker, Myers, Deaton, and Fox, and
Mayor Young.
Nays: None.
Moved by Alderman Walker that the Leopard's Club (Colored) be
allowed to use the Avalon Club dance hall on Tenth Street for two dances
to be given-during the month of May.
Motion seconded by Alderman Taylor and carried.
Moved by Alderman Myers that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Alderman Walker and carried.
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
