After prolonged discussion, both pro and con, the follow ing motions were made: 173 moved by Alderman Jarratt that Section 6 of the proposed Meat and Poultry Inspection Ordinance be changed substantially, as follows: Thirty five and Thirty Five Cents (instead of Thirty five and Fifty Cents) per head for cattle, hogs, sheep and goats, and the number of hours of the slaughtering establishment each week to be 5 - 8 hr. days, Monday through Friday, plus 4 hours on Saturday. Any other time shall be paid by the processor as overtime, overtime rate at $3.00 per hour, based on a $2.00 hour straight time; said proposed ordinance to be re-submitted to the Council. Motion seconded by Alderman Bonner and carried. Moved by Alderman Mitchell that Section 7 of the proposed meat and poultry Inspection Ordinance be changed substantially, as follows: 3/10 of 1% per bird. The poultry processing plant to be operated each week on 5 - S hr, days, plus 4 hours on Saturday. Any other time to be paid by the processor as overtime - overtime rate at $3.00 per hour, based on $2.00 per hour straight time; said proposed;ordinance to be re-submitted to the Council. Morgan, Jr., Representative of the Citizens, Safety Council Lt. White, Representative of the Texas Highway Patrol Earl C. Williams, Jr., Traffic Engineer - Secretary OLD BUSINESS 1. Recommendation for the removal of angle parking in the 1100 Block of Scott St. Motion made by Frank Craig that angle parking be removed in the 1100 Block of Scott St. Seconded by Lt. White. Carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS 1. Recommendation for the removal of traffic signals at Scott and Second St. and Scott and Third St. Motion made by Ralph Morgans Jr. that the traffic signals at Scott and Second St. and Scott and Third St. be removed and that "Stop" signs be installed on the side streets. Seconded by Frank Craig. Carried unanimously. 2. Recommendation for "No Parking At Any Time" restriction on the , east side of Harrison between Eleventh and Kell. Motion made by Ralph Morgan that parking be removed on the east side of Harrison between Eleventh and Kell. Seconded by Frank Craig. Carried unanimously. 3. Discussion of the need for parking meters in the 900 Block of Travis St. Motion made by Lt. White that the parking meters in the 900 Block of Travis St. be removed. Seconded by Ralph Morgan. Carried unanimously. 4. Request for "Loading Zone)' at 2208 Ave. "H" . Motion made by Ralph Morgan that the request for a "Loading Zone" at 2208 Ave. 11H" be granted. Seconded by Frank Craig. Carried unanimously. It was moved by Ralph Morgan that whereas it is in the public interest that more people be given an opportunity to park in the central business district, and whereas it is the purpose of parking meter enforcement to provide turn-over, and whereas it has been the personal observation of members of the Traffic Commission that the Public Relations Division does not appear to be operating at its former efficiency, it is the recommendation of the Traffic Commission that the operation of the Public Relations Division be investigated to determine a means of restoring the division to its former level of operation. Seconded by Frank Craig. Carried unanimously.
