M: NUTZS OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING WAS DISPENSED WITH SINCE EACH MEMBER HAD RECEIVED A COPY BY MAIL AND THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED AS PUBLISHED, ITEM 2: MR. ELLIS INTRODUCED THE NEW MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AS WELL AS E-CH MEMBER OF HIS STAFF. FOR THE INFORMATION OF THE NEW BOARD MEMOERS, MR. ELLIS PRESENTED AND EXPLAINED ORDINANCE NO, 15123 THE ORDINANCE TH-T CREATES AND DEFINES THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE PARK 3OARD. HE ALSO EXPLAINED OkOINANCE No. 1645, THE ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE GOVERNMENT AND PROTECTION OF PUBLIC PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS; THE ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTION OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT AND THE ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTION OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT. MR, REICHMUTH EXPLAINED THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD TO THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN, ITEM 3: AN ELECTION OF OFFICERS WAS HELD AND THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE WERE ELECTED FOR THE 1957 CALENDAR YEAR: CHAIRMAN---------MR, MAX KRUGER VICE-CHAIRMAN----MRS. JOHN ESTES SECRETARY--------MRS. REAGAN DUBLIN ITEM 4: MR, ELLIS EXPLAINED THAT THERE IS A POLICY CURRENTLY IN EFFECT REGULATING THE LENGTH OF SOFTEALL GAMES PLAYED ON CITY PAkKs. THE PRESENT POLICY IS TO TERMINATE PLAY PRIOR TO 10:00 P.M. AND TO TURN OFF THE FLOOD LIGHTS AT THIS TIME. THIS POLICY IS IN EFFECT AT -LL PARKS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SCOTLAND WHERE MOST OF THE COMMERCIAL LEAGUE GAMES ARE PLAYED. MR. ELLIS PRESENTED A LETTER FROM MR. CALVIN ASHLEY (COPY ATTACHED) REqUESTInG THAT THE CHURCH A7HLETIC ASSOCIATION BE ALLOWED TO COMPLETE TAF INNINS BEING PLAYED IN THE SOFTBALL GAMES AT HAMILTON PARK WHEN THE CUT OFF T&P ��w 'VES. MR, ELLIS POINTED OUT THAT PROPER SCHEDULING WOULD ELIMINATE THE NECESS!Tv Or EXTENDING GAMES PASSED THE PRESENT LIMIT, AFTER THE DISCUSSION THAT FOLLOWED, THE FOLLOWING ACTION WAS TAKEN* MOTION 572: MR. KRUGER MOVED THAT THE PARK BOARD RECOMMEND TO THE BO"RD or ALDERMEN THAT THE TIME LIMIT ON SOFTBALL GAMES nT HAMILTON PARK REMAIN AT 1000 P.M. BUT THAT THE TEAMS SHALL BE PERMITTED TO FINISH AN INNING THAT W�S COMMENCED BEFORE 10:00 P*M. AND THAT ALL PLAY SHALL CEASE AT 10: 15 P.M, SECONDED BY: MR. STAFFORD. MOTION CARRIED. ITEM 5: MR. ELLIS PRESCNrED TO THE BOARD A SPOPOSEO PLAN TO IMPROVE OUR CITY PARKS. IT WAS DECIDED THAT SINCE THE NEW MEMBERS WERE NOT AQUAINTED WITH THE CITY PARKS AND RECREATION FACILITIES, THAT A THOROUGH STUDY OF THESE FACILITIES SHOULD BE MADE BEFORE ANY OFFICIAL ACTION IS TAKEN ON THE PLnN. IN THE DISCUSSION ABOUT THE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM, IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT A TOUR OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION FACILITIES WOULD BE IN ORDER AND MR. ELLIS WAS INSTRUCTED TO -RRAUGE FOR SUCH A TOUR, THE PROPOSED PLAN TO IMPROVE OUR PARKS WOULD BE BROUGHT UP AGAIN AT OUR NEXT MEETING, ITEM 6: MR, ELLIS PRESENTED A BRIEF RESUME OF THE RECENT DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES WITH MR, ABBUEHL AND MR.
