on the above date: at 8:00 o'clock P.M.2 in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium

Moved by Alderman Jarratt that the Minutes of the regular meeting held May 14th
and the called meeting held May 16th, 1950', be and the same are hereby approved.

Mov4d by Alderman Hyatt that the Minutes of the City Park Board., dated May
22,, 1956, be and the same are hereby approved and ratified, copy of which is attached

As advertised, the first Public Hearing of Ordinances Nos. 1757 and 1758 was in
all respects duly held. Attorney Anderson and Mr. Tutten,, representatives of Wichita City
Lines, Inc. urged passage of both Ordinances Nos. 1757 and ,758., while Mr. H. M. Watson..
Secy. Carpenters L.U.#977.. Amalgamated Meat Cutters & Butcher Worlanen of N.A.Local Union
#412., presented a Resolution requesting the City not to repeal the 2% gross sales tax
now paid by the said Wichita City Lines., Inc., and further requesting improved bus service,
etc., said Resolution to be filed in the Office of the City Clerkv for further reference.
After both proponents and opponents had been given ample time to be heard., the
following motion was made:
Moved by Alderman Hyatt that the first public hearing of Ordinances Nos. 1757
and 1758 be and the same is hereby closed.
Motion seconded by Alderman Foley and carried by the follo�,ring vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Hyatt., Reichmuth., Foley,, Mitchell and Jarratt.

Moved by Alderman Hyatt that the second public hearing of Ordinances Nos. 1757
and 1758 be held at the next regular meeting June 11, 1956, and direct that same be duly
gablished in the Wichita Falls Record News.

Moved by Alderman Jarratt that the Mayor appoint a committee to negotiate with
representatives of the Wichita City Lines, Inc. for the purpose of arriving at a solution
and a proposal for some workable plan on the bus situation, which would be acceptable to
both the City and the Wichita City Lines, Inc.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hyatt and carried,
Mayor K, C. Spell appointed Aldermen Reichmuth, Foley and Hyatt to serve,, in the
above and foregoing stated capacity.

The request of Attorney Milbum Nutt that Sections 6-901 through 6-909 of the
Itinerant Vendors ordinance be repealed was brought for discussion, whereupon Mrs G.
3oderlund., representing the local Photographer Association I strongly opposed the repeal of
this ordinance, thereupon the following motion was made:
Moved by Alderman Reichmuth that no action whatsoever be taken on the Itinerant
Vendors ordinance u�til such time as the local court has ruled on the present injunction
filed against the City enforcing the Itinerant Vendors ordinance,

to advertise for bids on the sale of Lots 25 to 29., inclusive, Block 2., Riley Subd., said
bids to be opened at the next regular Council meeting June 11., 1956.

Moved by Alderman Jarratt that the Board of Aldermen does hereby authorize the
City to take a 6 months (more or less) option to acquire Lots 6 & 27, Block 102., Faith
Village Unit #4,, and Lot 20, Block 1, Section C, University Park Subd,., and hereby directs
the City Clerk to draw a check for such an amount as may be required to secure the option.

Moved by Alderman Reichmuth that the City Attorney be and he is hereby directed to
prepare an ordinance., makin.g it unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to operate or
use a public address system in any city park without first obtaining permission from the
Director of Parks and Recreation, and submit the same to the Council for consideration at the
next rernilar meeting, June 11, 1956.

Moved by Alderman Foley that the Board of Aldermen hereby authorize payment to
J. C. Oliver the sum of $19,995,65 for Estimate No, 1 on water pump station improvements,,
and direct the City Clerk to draw a check for the same., payable out of Water Bond Improvement
Ser. 1955 fund cash.

of 45 tons Ferrous Sulphate., the Board of Aldermen does hereby award the bid to the lowest
bidder, Chemical Supply Ck. at the bid price of $2115-00, fob Wichita Falls, less 1% 10 days.

20,000 lbs, Ingot lead, the Board of Aldermen does hereby award the bid to the lowest bidder,
Standard Metal & Iron Co... at their bid price of 16.7125 per cwt., or the sum of $3342.50., fob
city supply room.

to Wichita General Hospital the sum of $8927.33 for charity patients for month of April,

thru 1287 inclusive consisting of Real Estate,
Personal and Automobiles, which results in a
loss of City taxes of $3.25 for 1925, a loss of
$3.25 for 1926, a loss of $3.50 for 1927, a loss

of $3 30 for 1928, a loss OJ. , a
loss �f $12.40 for 1950, a loss of $68.0 for 1951
a net loss of $84.16 for 1952, a net loss of
$98.56 for 1953, a net loss of $259-11 for 1954,
and a net loss of $2,427.52 for 1955 .
These adjustments are due to owners not
residing within the City limits, corrections
made on assessments after inspections, church
propertys automobiles purchased after January lst. ,
double assessments and Servicemen.
I recommend these adjustments be approved.

MR. ELLIS POINTED OUT THAT DEVELOPMENT IS UNDER WAY ON BOTH SIDES
OF THE LAKEVIEW CEMETEPY TRACT. IN ORDER TO PROVIDE CIRCULATION THROUGH THE
CITY-OUNED PROPERTY, IT IS ADVANTAGEOUS THAT ACCESS BE OBTAINED THROUGH THE
PROPERTY PRESENTLY UNDER DEVELOPMENT. THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS SHOULD IMME-
DIATELY OBTAIN OPTIONS TO PURCHASE LOTS 6 AND 27 OF BLOCK 102, FAITH VILLAGE
UNIT 4, AWD LOT 22 OF BLOCK 1 , SECTION C, UNIVERSITY PARK. THESE LOTS ARE
PPESENTLY VACANT , BUT IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT HOUSES WILL BE CONSTRUCTED ON
THEM IN THE INMEDIATE FUTURE. IF IT IS DECIDED LATER THAT THESE LOTS ARE NOT

THE PARKS AND RECREATION UEPARTMENT FOR THE USE OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC . IT
COSTS THE CITY OF JICHITA FALLS APPROXIMATELY 4,15,000 A YEAR TO MAINTAIN THESE

ITEM 7i MR. ELLIS REPORTED ON THE PROGRESS OF THE KAUSOI_EUM PROJECT TO
bATE. HE STATED THAT REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEMORIAL GARDENS AssocIATION -HAD
SOWAITTED A NEW SET OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE HAUSOLEUM STRUCTURE.
1 N A CONFERENCE WITH THESE REPRESENTnTIVES LAST WEEK , THE 11EPRESENTAT IVES
POINTED OUT THAT THE MEMORIAL GARDENS ASSOCIATION DOES NOT DESIRE TO SUILD
THESE STRUCTURES IN LAKEVIEW CEMETERY. INSTEAD , THEY WOULD PREFER TO CONSTRUCT
THEM IN THE NEW SECTION OF RIVERSIDE CEMETERY. DURING THE DISCUSSION THAT
FOLLOWED , IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT THE PARK AND RECRE-TION DEPARTMENT SHOULD
CONCENTRATE ON PROVIDING RECREATION FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES FOR THE CITIZENS
OF WICHITA FALLS. THEREFORE, THIS DEPARTMENT SHOULD OSSTAIN FROM ANY FUTURE
CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT. AT THE SAME TIME, THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS WILL BE PER-
PETUALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE EXISTING PORTIONS OF LAKEVIEW
AND RIVOPSIDE CEMETERIES.
MOTION 559; MR. EVANS MOVED THAT THE PARK DOARD AUTHORIZE MR.
ELLIS TO NOTIFY THE MEMORIAL GARDENS ASSOCIATION
THAT THE PARK BOARD IS NOT INTERESTED IN A MAUSO-
LEUM PROJECT IN RIVERSIDE CEMETERY AT THIS TIME.

ITEM 8: MR. ELLIS STATED THAT HE H.��D CONTACTED MR. ROY HYATT AND THi',T,
AS A PUBLIC SERVICE, WICHITA NOVELTY COMPANY HAD OFFERED TO FURNISH THE PARK
DEPARTMENT A JUKE BOX FOR LE CHATEAU. THIS MACHINE WOULD BE SERVICED AND
MAINTAINED BY THE WICHITA NOVELTY COMPANY AT NO COST TO THE CITY AND WOULD
OPERATE FREE OF CHARGE. THE PARK BOARD ASKED MR. ELLIS TO WRITE A LETTER OF
THANKS AND APPRECIATION TO THE WICHIT�, NOVELTY COMPANY FOR THEIR OFFER.
ITEM 9: RESOLUTION III WAS DISCUSSED. THIS RESOLUTION AUTHORIZES THE
PAYMENT OF 1, "35.00 BONUS TO CEMETERY EMPLOYEES ENGAGED IN DISINTERNING BODIES
IN RIVERSIDE 6EMETERY.
