Min 04/02/1962 414 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Bldg. April 2, 1962 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session, on the above date, in the Council Roam of the Memorial Auditorium Bldg., at 12 35 P.M., with the following members present: Kenneth Johnson Mayor J. Winston Wallander X Dr. D. Clifford Burross Aldermen O.D. McBride R. V. (Pete) Claytor H. P. Hodge City Attorney A. L. Fitts City Clerk Mayor Kenneth Johnson announced this was a special called meeting to hear a report from the Committee appointed to investigate the handling of welfare patients, and the financial condition of the Wichita General hospital. After discussion, participated in by representatives of radio, T.V. and Press, Alderman Burross made the following motion: Moved by Alderman Burross that the City of WichitaFalls contribute $30,000.00 as the City's portion, toward easing the financial burden of the Wichita General Hospital created by the present method of handlint, certification of charity patients; that the City- County Welfare Board be abolished, and that a letter be written to each member of theBoard thanking them for their services. Motion seconded by Alderman Claytor and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Wallander, Burross, McBride and Claytor. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman McBride that a strip of land on North Scott be deeded back to Patterson and Garrett, provided the City has title to same. Motion seconded by Alderman Claytor and carried unanimously. Several questions asked by Alderman Wallander about the operation of the City- County Welfare were answered by Alderman Burross. Alderman McBride gave a short resume of the progress of negotiations toward the resolving of difficulties incident to the compliance with request of the Corp. of Army Engineers concerning Lake Kemp repair and improvements. Moved by Alderman Claytor that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by AldermanWallander and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned at 12-55 P.M.
