The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session
on the above date, in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Bldg., at 7:00 o'clock
P.M., with the following members present:
Kenneth Johnson Mayor
E. J. Wininger
Roger E. Thoes
Dr. Al T. Witcher Aldermen
Joe Bailey Meissner Jr.
Mrs H. P. Ledford
A. L. Fitts City Clerk
Frank Gibson City Attorney
Mayor Kenneth Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:15 o'clock, and announced
this special meeting had been called by him to consider traffic problems only.
Mr. W. M. Martin, representing approximately 84 residents of the Country Club
,,Estates and the hemp-Harrell-Peckham Addition, spoke with reference to heavy truck traffic
and hazards, and requested that the Board of Aldermen authorize certain truck load
limits on various streets in that area.
Mr. Jim Pardee was recognized and spoke briefly regarding the recommendations
made by the Traffic Commission on this problem.
Moved by Alderman Witcher that temporary load capacity limits of 17,000 gross
vehicle weight be posted on the following streets:
Ha#stead, from Hamilton to Holliday Creek.
Hamilton Blvd. from Taft to Hampstead Lane.
Piedmont St. from Kemp to Ellingham.
Harrison St. from Kell to Hampstead Lane.
Taft St. from Kell Blvd. to Hampstead Lane and
Speedway, from Fain to Holliday,
with the exception, allowing for any local deliveries in this area.
Motion seconded by Alderman Ledford and carripA, unanimously.
Moved by Alderman Meissner that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Alderman Witcher and carried.
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned at 8:05 P.M.
