Min 03/17/1960 136 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Bldg. March 17, 1960 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session on the above date, in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Bldg., at 2-30 o'clock P.M., with the following members present: K. C. Spell Mayor Roger E. Thoes I Milam J. Vaughan Aldermen Joe Bailey Meissner Jr. Bill Thacker Geo. T. Henderson City Clerk C. J. Griggs City Manager Frank Gibson City Attorney Mayor K. C. Spell announced the purpose of this meeting to be the consideration of annexing certain territory as defined in Ordinances Nos. 1895 to 1898, inclusive. Moved by Alderman Vaughan that public hearings on Ordinances 1895, 1896, 1897, and 1898, now open to the public. A Mr. Roberts, representative of the local State Hospital, was desirous of knowing what benefits the hospital would derive from the City, whereupon, Aldermen Meissner and Vaughan gave a brief outline of city benefits, thereupon the following motion was made: Moved by Alderman Thacker that the Mayor be and he is hereby requested and directed to write a letter to the State Hospital authorities, stating the special benefits of annexa- tion and to particularly assure the said hospital that they would have police and fire protection. Motion seconded by Aldeman Meissner and carried. There being no serious objection to annexation, the following motion was made: Moved by Alderman Vaughan that the public hearing of Ordinances 1896, 1896, 1897 and 1898, be and the same is hereby closed:. Motion seconded by Alderman Thoes and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Thoes, Vaughan, Meissner and Thacker. Nays: None. ORDINANCE NO. 1897 AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY 'ANNEXING THE STATE HOSPITAL AREA WHICH IS ADJACENT TO THE SOUTH TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, 1^114ICH LAND IS DESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE, ,AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Moved by Alderman Vaughan that Ordinance No. 1897 be and the same is hereby approved and passed as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Thacker and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Thoes, Vaughan, Meissner and Thacker. Nays: None. ORDINANCE NO. 1895 x AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY ANNEXING OXLEY DRIVE AREA DNIP THE RANCHO VISTA AREA WHICH ARE ADJACENT TO THE WEST TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, `i4HICH ARE DESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. 137 Moved by Alderman Meissner that Ordinance No. 1895 be and the same is hereby approved and passed as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Thoes and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermien Thoes, Vaughan, Meissner and Thacker. Moved by Alderman Thoes that Ordinance No. 1896 be and the same is hereby approved and passed as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Meissner and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Thoes, Vaughan, Meissner and Thacker. Nays: None. ORDINANCE N01898 AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY ANNEXING THE JACKSBORO "Y" AREA WHICH IS ADJACENT TO THE SOUTH TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, WHICH LAND IS DESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Moved by Alderman Thacker that Ordinance No. 1898 be and the same is hereby approved and passed as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Vaughan and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Thoes, Vaughan, Meissner and Thacker. Nays: None. The City Clerk presented the following Certificate: STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF WICHITA I, Geo. T.
