August 6, 1968
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular session
on the above date in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building at 7:30
o'clock p.m. , with the following members present:

Kenneth Hill Absent
After calling the meeting to order, Mayor Pro-Tem Cletus Schenk announced that,
because of the deaths of Mayor Hill's mother and City Clerk Thomas' brother, no official
action would be taken by the Board of Aldermen at this time, other than to open the
public hearings which had been called for this meeting. Business will be taken up at
7:30 o'clock p.m. on August 20, 1968.
Mayor Pro-Tem Schenk opened the public hearings on the 1968 Assessment Paving
Program, the 1968 School Sidewalk Construction Assessment Program, and the demolition
of dangerous buildings within Area 3.
Moved by Alderman Wills that, due to the tragedies in the families of Mayor Hill
and City Clerk Thomas, the public hearings be continued at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday,
August 20, in the Council Room in Memorial Auditorium, and that the meeting be recessed
until that time.
Motion seconded by Alderman Taylor, and carried unanimously.
Mayor Pro-Tem Schenk apologized for the inconvenience to the citizens who were
present. It was announced that anyone present desiring to do so could record a state-
ment, which would be transcribed and presented to the Board of Aldermen for their
consideration on August 20.
The Board of Aldermen recessed at 7:40 p.m.
