The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session
on the above date in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building at 11:00 AN,
with the following members present:
R. C. Rancier Mayor
R. Kenneth Hill X
James M. Davis X Aldermen
Max Kruger
Cletus C. Schenk X
Jack Davis City Manager
H. I'. Hodge, Jr. City Attorney
Wilma J. Thomas City Clerk
Leroy Daniel Absent
The invocation was given by Alderman Hill.
Mayor Rancier announced that this meeting was called to select a replacement for
Mr. Lyons who resigned as Alderman Place 2. Ile stated that in executive -session this
morning the Board of Aldermen selected Mr. Aubrey L. Wilson.
Moved by Alderman Schenk that Mr. Aubrey L. Wilson be nominated to the Board of
Aldermen, Place 2, to succeed Mr. Lyons.
Notion seconded by Alderman Bill, and carried by the following vote:
Ayes : Mayor Rancier, Aldermen Hill, Davis, Kruger, and Schenk.
Nays : None
Mayor Rancier called Mr. Wilson to the platform, and administered the Oath of
Office. lie welcomed Air. Nilson as a member of the Board of Aldermen, stating that he
is well qualified and knows that he will do a fine job of representing the whole city.
Mr. Wilson stated that he was deeply honored to have been selected to serve his
city, and is grateful to the Council and citizens for this opportunity; that he is
not connected with any organization, and hopes to be a good councilman for the city.
Aldermen Kruger, Schenk, Hill, and Davis welcomed Mr. Wilson to the Council,
stating they looked forward to serving with him.
Jack Ballard commended the Council for their selection of Mr. Wilson, and also
stated that the east side human relations committee would like to see the park and
civic center issues presented to the citizens again.
C. E. Jackson, Principal of East Side Junior High School, thanked the Council
for selecting Mr. Wilson, and for moving their community forward and upward by this
selection. Ile feels that Mr. Wilson will be a good alderman, and they are pleased
for this event in the City of Wichita Falls.
Alderman Dill stated that the Council feels that this is a historical moment for
the City of Wichita Falls, and each one of them is proud to be a part of it. He
thanked Mr. Jackson for his remarks.
Moved by Alderman Kruger that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hill, and carried unanimously.
The Board of Aldermen adjourned at 11 :15 A.M.
