The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called
session on the above date in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building
at 1:30 o'clock P.M., with the following members present:

The invocation was given by Alderman Wills,

City Manager Gerald Fox explained that the meeting had been called to consider
bids for remodeling office space, and also to consider bids for east side sanitary
sewer improvements. He explained that the engineer's estimate on the sewer pro-
ject was $187,000.00. Opex Construction Company submitted the low bid of $232,406.00.
After careful evaluation it was determined that by cutting back on some of the
shorter lines, that $37,702.60 could be saved, and the main portion of the sewer
project constructed. It is anticipated that $40,000.00 will be reimbursed by the
Federal Government by July 1971, then the lines could be added by local contractors
who have equipment for smaller and shallower lines. It should also be more economical.
It was recommended that the contract be awarded to Opex Construction Company, Olney,
Texas, in the amount of $194,704.40, and contract at a later date for various lines
eliminated from this project.

RESOLUTION NO. 1100
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has received bids for Project No. 89-168-01
for certain sanitary sewer improvements; and,
WHEREAS, it was deemed necessary and proper to apply for Federal Grant under
the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, Public Law 660 as amended; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls is now ready to award contract for said
Project No. 89-168-01.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is authorized to execute for the City of Wichita Falls a
contract between the City of Wichita Falls and Opex Construction Company for said
Project No. 89-168-01 in the amount of $194,704.40.
Moved by Alderman Wills that Resolution No. 1100 be passed.
Motion seconded by Alderman Taylor, and carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Aldermen Wills, Taylor, Lambert, Darner, and Boyd
Nays: None
Item 4
Jerry Dunn presented the following low bids for remodeling MIS office space, for
a total amount of $28,569.00.

c. Composition floor - Douglas Floor Company - $1,945.00

e. Painting - C.H.A. Paint Company - $1,748.00
f. Electrical - Ace Electric Company - $6,478.00
g. Acoustical ceiling - Builder's Supply Company - $1,500.00
In addition to this amount, an additional $3,427.00 will be required for
various items, bringing the total remodeling costs to $31,996.00, as compared to
the original estimate of $35,000.00.
Moved by Alderman Darner that the low bids be accepted as recommended, and
also the addition as outlined by Mr. Dunn.
Motion seconded by Alderman Boyd, and carried unanimously.
Moved by Alderman Taylor that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Alderman Lambert and carried unanimously.
The Board of Aldermen adjourned at 1:50 P.M.
