Min 09/10/1973 822 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building September 10, 1973 Item 1 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session on the above date in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building at 2 :00 o'clock P.M. , with the following members present. Thomas City Clerk Peggy McCullough Absent i 1i Mayor Wallander stated that this meeting is called for the purpose of conform- ing to the firemen's request for recounting of ballots of the election held August 28, 1973. A proposed resolution was presented authorizing this recount. i RESOLUTION NO. 1459 RESOLUTION ORDERING A FULL RECOUNT OF ALL VOTES CAST IN THE ELECTION ON PROPOSED MINIMUM SALARY OF FIREMEN, APPOINTING THE RECOUNT COMMITTEE, AND SETTING THE DATE FOR THE RECOUNT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT. The petition received on September 5, 1973 requesting a recount of all votes cast on the following proposition, at the election held on August 28, 1973, to-wit : "The proposed minimum salary of $620 per month for the Firemen", is proper and in compliance with Article 9.38a of the Texas Election Code and with the Charter of the City. Further, that such recount shall begin at 8:00 o'clock a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 1973 and shall be completed as soon as practicable thereafter. The report of the Recount Committee shall be presented to the Mayor on September 17, 1973 and the Board of Aldermen shall recanvass the votes on such proposition on Tuesday, September 18, 1973 and will enter an order of the recount results on that date. The Recount Committee shall be composed of Mrs. Raymond Sims, 4624 University, Mrs. G. Donald Larson, 2305 Ellingham, and Mrs. James Strain, 4222 Kingsbury; Mrs. Raymond Sims is designated to serve as chairman of such Recount Committee. The City Clerk and the City Attorney are also directed to prepare and distribute all necessary notices and orders as required by the Texas Election Code in order to legally carry out the recount. The City Clerk is directed to deliver to the chairman of the Recount Committee the ballot boxes containing the ballots , and the Police Chief is directed to deliver to such chairman the keys to such ballot boxes. After the recount is completed, the chairman shall deliver the locked ballot boxes with the original contents in- tact to the City Clerk, and the ballot box keys to the Police Chief. Moved by Alderman Campsey that Resolution No. 1459 be passed. 823 Motion seconded by Alderman Still, and carried by the following vote: Ayes : Aldermen Campsey, Taylor, Morrison, Still, and Boyd Nays : None.
