The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called
session on the above date in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building
at 5:00 o'clock P.M. , with the following members present.
Curtis Smith Mayor Pro tem
Marvin Traywick
John Hampton, Jr.
Carol Russell Aldermen
Jim Thomas
Raymond Adcock
Robert Haley Assistant City Manager
H. P. Hodge, Jr. City Attorney
Wilma J. Thomas City Clerk
The invocation was given by Alderman Thomas.

The public hearing on the tax rate for 1979 was opened for discussion.
Mayor Pro tem Smith stated that they will not set the rate at this time.
Mayor Pro tem Smith noted that the people sitting here at this table are
taxpayers, also. They have spent many weeks and months going into the budget
to see what the City needs, and what its citizens want. He stated that they
try to make the best decisions possible with the information they have. They
want to hear from anyone who has any comments to make.
No one desired to be heard, and the hearing was closed.
Mayor Pro tem Smith stated that the rate will be established on Tuesday,
October 9, at the Council meeting beginning at 8:30 A.M. City Attorney H. P.
Hodge, Jr. noted that we will need to publish a notice similar to the one
published prior to this hearing.
The Board of Aldermen adjourned at 5:08 P.M.
