Ord 067-2005 9/6/2005ORDINANCE NO. V� - o- 0 0 S ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS FOR TOBACCO COMPLIANCE, AWARDED BY THE TEXAS COMPTROLLER OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION IN THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, the Texas Comptroller's Office, in partnership with the Wichita Falls Police Department, wishes to reduce the extent to which cigarettes and tobacco products are sold or distributed to persons younger that 18 years of age; and WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a grant in the amount of $5,000 for Tobacco Compliance by the Texas State Comptroller of Public Accounts; and WHEREAS, said funds will be used to support the enforcement, and retailer and judicial education of Subchapters H and N, Chapter 161 TEXAS HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE and to report grant - related activities to the Comptroller's Office. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1 . The sum of $5,000 is hereby appropriated in the Special Revenue Fund for the purpose of tobacco compliance as authorized in the grant from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, and the City Manager is authorized to accept same on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls. SECTION 2 . It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
