ORDINANCE DECLARING UNOPPOSED CANDIDATES AS ELECTED
TO THE MAYORAL, DISTRICT 3, AND DISTRICT 4 POSITIONS AND
DECLARING THOSE THREE ELECTIONS CANCELLED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 2 OF THE TEXAS ELECTION CODE
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has submitted to the City Council a Certification of
Unopposed Candidates in the Mayoral, District 3, and District 4 positions, and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has certified that there are no write -in candidates for
those offices under applicable law, and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has certified that there is no proposition to appear on
the ballot, and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2 of the Texas Election Code provides for the cancellation
of elections under certain conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT
SECTI 1 . William K. Altman is declared elected to the Office of Mayor for a
two -year term, Michael Norrie is declared elected to the Office of Councilor
District 3 for a two -year term, and Ray Gonzalez is declared elected to the Office
of Councilor District 4 for a two -year term.
SEC 2 . Under this declaration, the elections for the Mayoral position,
Councilor District 3 position, and Councilor District 4 position are cancelled.
SECTI 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this Ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
