Ord 058-2004 7/6/2004ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 102 -67 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION, BY ADDING AN ADDITIONAL POSITION TO THE COMMISSION'S MEMBERSHIP COMPOSITION; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission helps provide for a more efficient and effective way to improve traffic regulations and traffic safety in the City; and, WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission finds it necessary to revise some of their operational provisions to insure that the meetings held by the Traffic Safety Commission are more effective. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1 . Section 102 -67 of the Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows: "Sec. 102 -67. Membership qualifications. The six citizen appointees of the traffic safety commission must be citizens of the city. In appointing the members, the city council shall attempt to appoint persons who meet the following qualifications: (1) One representative of the City Traffic Engineering Division. (2) One representative of the Traffic Division of the City Police Department. (3) The Wichita Falls Independent School District School Safety Officer. (4) One representative of the State Department of Transportation. (5) One representative of the State Department of Public Safety, Safety Division. (6) One representative of the Wichita County Sheriffs Department (patrol). (7) One representative of the insurance industry, auto claims division. (8) One representative of the school transportation industry. (9) One Sheppard Air Force Base safety representative. (10) One person representing a non - government owned transportation company having professional drivers operating within the city. (11) One person who represents municipal court. (12) Six citizens of the city who are interested in traffic safety; one shall be appointed from the city at- large, and one shall be appointed from each of the council districts, with consideration given to the following fields of expertise: legal, insurance industry, and transportation industry." SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determiined that the meeting at which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
