ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 6720 OF THE ZONING
ORDINANCE, APPENDIX B OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, BY
ADDING A DEFINITION OF A GENERAL BUSINESS SIGN; FINDING
AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, adding a definition of a General Business Sign will strengthen the
sign ordinance and create a clear distinction between an on- premise and off - premise
sign; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has reviewed this proposed
text amendment and recommends approval, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls concurs with the
Commission's recommendation and deems that the herein described amendment is in
the public interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT
SECTION 1 . Appendix B, of the Code of Ordinances, Zoning, is hereby
amended at Section 6730, Definitions, by the placement of the following text in its
proper alphabetized order:
"General Business Sign: An on- premise sign that directs attention to a
business, product, activity, or service that is conducted, sold, or offered on the premise
where the sign is located."
SECTION 2 . It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
