ORDINANCE ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE FEDERAL
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY, DEPARTMENT OF
HOMELAND SECURITY, FOR ASSISTANCE TO FIRE OPERATIONS
AND FIREFIGHTER SAFETY, AND MAKING AN APPROPRIATION IN
THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE MATCHING CONTRIBUTION; FINDING
AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, State and Federal mandates are requiring more diverse response
capabilities from fire departments, and;
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Fire Department has a need to improve its training
capabilities if it is to meet these needs, and;
WHEREAS, the Specialized Training received and the use of the new projects
will eventually be offered to members of other departments and industries in the form of
regional training, and;
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Fire Department now has the facilities at which to
construct these projects and to offer this training, and;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SE CTION 1 . That the City Manager be authorized to accept grant funding from
the Federal Emergency Management Agency /United States Fire Administration
Assistance to Firefighter Grants Program for the purchase of Specialized Rescue
Training and Projects for the new Fire Drill Field,
SE CTION 2 . That grant funds in the amount of $22,596.00 and General Fund
reserves in the amount of $9,684.00 be appropriated to the financial records of the City.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ORDINANCE was passed and was open to the public as required by law.
