Resolution Making An Appointment To The Position Of City Councilor
At Large
WHEREAS, there is currently a vacancy in the office of City Councilor At-Large
for the City of Wichita Falls;
WHEREAS, Section 23 of the City Charter provides as follows:
Sec. 23. City Council Vacancies.
If a vacancy occurs in the office of mayor or in any other place on the city council, some eligible
person shall be chosen to fill the place by a majority vote of the remaining members. Any person
chosen by the city council to fill a vacancy therein shall continue in office as a result of such
choice only until the next regular municipal election, at which time some person shall be elected to
fill the office either for the regular term or for the unexpired term as the case may be. A place on
the city council held, or which might be held, by a person chosen by the city council shall be
regarded as a place to be filled at any regular municipal election. When at any such election, a
person is to be chosen to fill out an unexpired term candidates shall be nominated for the position
and the election shall be held as hereinbefore provided.
The person chosen to fill the vacancy shall serve only until the next regular
municipal election, scheduled for May 14, 2011.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Linda R. Ammons is hereby appointed as City Councilor At-Large of
the City of Wichita Falls, as provided by Section 23 of the City Charter.
