Dennis Marquardt called the January 2, 2013 meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic
Safety Commission to order at 1:30 p.m.
The minutes were approved for November 2012.
The financial report for January was presented by Stan Horton. Balance was
$371.50 an increase of $200 as a donation from Andy Kocher (Star Brite Cleaners) was
received in the month of November 2012.
Accident Statistics:
Karl Lillie of WFPD advised the total crashes for Dec 2012 were 316 of which 60
were injury accidents and 0 fatalities. There have been 5 fatalities for 2012.

City Traffic Report
Mark Beauchamp discussed the following:
1. Safe Routes will go out for bids in March 2013
2. Callfield/Lawrence realignment is complete. Mark advised during the holiday
season all went exceptionally well. No problem existed and no accidents were
recorded..
3. Yearly sign system change out from Kemp to Barnett and Southwest to Kell..
4. Broad and Holiday control equipment will be changed out soon. The change will
be a nighttime red light flash after 9or IOpm.
State Traffic Report
Glenn Allbritton gave the following report:
1. Windthorst Road bridge project has started and moving forward.
2. Sheppard Access road and Airport stop sign placement seems to be working well.
3. Overlay project for State Hwy 240 from Missal Rd to the Wichita River.
4. A Dynamic message sign will be placed prior the entrance of the flyover from the
north for traffic entering Wichita Falls.
Unfinished Business:
None.
New Business:
Mark Beauchamp asked if we could bring a person on the TSC that was a bicycle and
pedestrian activist. This will be added as an item to the next agenda.
Items of Discussion:
1. Committee Reports: Safe Routs is coming up in March 2013. TSC is still working with
the Health Department on several aspects of this project. Bicycle rodeo. April and May will
consist of school activity for bicycle month scheduled for May 2013. Safety Banner
program is also underway. The school creating the winning banner will be chosen. The
winning banner will then be reproduced and each school will have one displayed in the
front of their building.
2. Completion of the hike and bike trail was discussed.
3. Bicycle Rodeo will be April 13th 2013. The Rodeo will be at the Wichita Falls Health
department. All members were asked to try and raise any monies they could form
organizations or individuals willing to support this project. All donations help support the
giveaway prizes, helmets and educational materials. Charles Grady advised he would send
out letters as he did last year. The group asked Charles to inquire if any organizations that
would like to sponsor T -Shirts, Water bottles and so forth.

at 2:00 P.M.
