EX-OFFICIO MEMBERS PRESENT:
Lesley Daly, Library Administrator
A quorum was present and the meeting was called to order at 4:17 pm.
Librarian's report:
Ms. Daly reported that the two new Kidzone compters have arrived and will be deployed shortly. Our IS department and Systems
Administrator are currently focused on the upgrading of existing staff computers: once they are all fully functional, there will be time
to explore the new software for our younger patrons.
Two new databases have been acquired and are predominantly displayed on the library website: Atomic Training consists of online
video instruction for a wide variety of computer applications, from multiple versions of Microsoft Office products,to social media
programs,to AutoCad. Patrons can sign up from home using their barcode and work through levels of interest and expertise at their
own pace.

Job& Career Accelerator has been picked up and included in the database package from the Texas State Library through 2014,and is
produced by the creators of Learning Express, our most heavily-used database. It provides a variety of tips on job-searching and
resume writing, as well as offering useful and timely information on education requirements for various careers and links to
employment sites.
Both the city and the library will be undergoing website changes during the next few months. The city will soon unveil a new web
design, and the library will also be introducing a new patron interface that will change the look and feel of the online catalog. The
new product has the capability of integrating a number of searches to include not just titles held by the library, but also results from
databases. It will also be a lot more intuitive and forgiving of spelling errors, incorporating a"did you mean?..."feature,and will look
and feel a lot less rigid and formal to the patron, with more similarities to an amazon.com search. Staff are currently utilizing Google
Analytics to monitor web traffic at wfpl.net:the library homepage currently averages over 10,000 `hits' on a monthly basis.
The city is currently involved in a lighting replacement project across all departments designed to ultimately save energy costs. To
date, the Youth department has had new fixtures and fittings installed, and the rest of the building should be completed by the end of
the week.
Coming up in December, the library will once again conduct a Food for Fines program. For each can of food donated, the library will
forgive$1 in fines and take the donations to the area food bank.
New business:
Andy Austin has had to regretfully resign from the Advisory Board due to work schedule conflicts effective immediately. Ms. Daly
asked members to ask friends and colleagues to consider serving on the Board and to contact the City Clerk's office.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:45 pm.
