A quorum was present and the meeting was called to order at 5:05 pm.
Librarian's report:
Meeting in the Library Activity Room due to other scheduled events taking place during Parks& Recreation Open House.
Conference Room currently hosting an e-reader petting zoo—over 20 devices are on display and available to be pushed, poked,
prodded and played with.
This evening will also see the Activity Room in in use again as the location to welcome World Book Night Donors: Becky Morrison
and Lesley Daly will be distributing donor titles and meeting community volunteers.
Planning for next year's budget is already well under way. The Library is submitting an above line request this year to implement
Phase 1 of RFID conversion(radio frequency identification). Phase 1 includes the application of`smart' barcodes to all physical
library holdings,as well as the purchase of new staff workstations and inventory tools,new security gates,and a new Self Check
machine. The project has 3 stages in all—phase 2 introduces automated material sorting, and phase 3 calls for additional Self Check
stations.
Within the past week,the North Texas Library Partners Executive Board (NTLP)has informed all member libraries that the
organization will be shutting its doors effective May 31,although staff will continue to work to complete the shutdown through
September 2013. The impact on WFPL is unclear at this time,but one change will definitely have to happen in the administration of
the Overdrive consortium : NTLP has taken a distinct leadership role in the foundation and management of this group.
Friends' report:
The next book sale will be May 2 through May 4.
