1. Call to Order
Vice - Chair Catherine Prose called the meeting to order at 8:OOa.
2. Approval of minutes, oath of office and election of officers
Ron Fischli moved for approval of the minutes of the May 18, 2011 Arts Commission meeting.
Second by Larry Sharp, motion carried.
Ron Fischli moved for nomination of officers: Chair—Catherine Prose; Vice-Chair—Larry
Sharp; Secretary— Kevin Tiaden. Second by Larry Sharp, motion carried.
3. Review of 2012 grant funding requests and Commission recommendations
The Commission interviewed representatives of organizations applying for the 2012 Arts and
Historical Preservation Grants:
• Wichita Falls Area Arts Council (Kemp Center): Representative (Carlana Fitch)
• River Bend Nature Center: Representatives (Liz Martin, Leslie Fernandes)
• Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre: Representative (Gari Boehm)
• Wichita County Heritage Society: Representatives (Delores Culley, Stacie Flood)
• Wichita Falls Museum of Art at Midwestern State University: Representatives (Juan
Sandoval, Mary Helen Maskill, Hayley Laughlin)
• 4 Kidz Sake: Representative (Dwayne Jackson, Brett Haynes)
• MSU Combined Choirs (James Schuppener)
• Wichita Falls Fire and Police Museum: Representatives (Stephanie Teakell, Tommy
Smyth)
• Wichita Falls Railroad Museum: Representative (Raymond Grube, Susie Kane)
• Museum of North Texas History: Representatives (Charles Campbell, Jim Newsom)
• Wichita Falls Symphony League for Applause: Representatives (Genie Ratliff)

The Commission recommended the following funding amounts:

• Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre: $10,000
• Wichita Falls Symphony League for Applause: $917
• Backdoor Theatre: $9,417
• Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra: $10,667
• 4 Kidz Sake: $3,333
• Wichita Falls Fire and Police Museum: $9,000
• Wichita Falls Railroad Museum: $5,250
• Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Inc.: $6,013
• River Bend Nature Center: $9,400
• Museum of North Texas History: $8,738
